9. Rotary Minute (please see the complete Rotary Minute on the website): November is Foundation Month, and Rob Welch did a fine speech on the many reasons there are to support The Rotary Foundation. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.

A few of the initiatives that The Foundation has/is undertaking were highlighted such as fighting hunger in Romania and Alaska, reducing child mortality in Sri Lanka and India, promoting peace in the Central African Republic, basic education in South Africa and Rhode Island, USA as well as Rotary’s significant focus over the past years of eradicating polio worldwide.  Also pointed out were the various avenues of supporting The Foundation namely, the “six areas of focus”, and also the “Every Rotarian Every Year” (EREY) initiative. For $100 per year through the EREY you become a Rotary Foundation Sustaining member.

9. 50/50 Draw: $2/ ticket - Find one of two Jokers. Paul Massuet won the ticket draw and referred the card draw to Ron Kozub, but unfortunately did not find a Joker.

10. Early Leavers: Jean H. L., Najeeb S., Paul M. all had other commitments to attend to and were promptly fined by the sergeant.

11. Introduction of Guest Speaker: Our guest speaker is Dave Martineau IK FAD TV. Dave has been in the media industry for over 25 years, he has not only been very successful in a number of positions including publisher of the Niagara Fall Review, Ad Director of The St. Catharines Standard and more. But he is also a very community minded individual in that he has been the campaign chair for the United Way, been involved in 10 Men in a Tent, Board member with the Niagara Falls Chamber of Commerce and much more. Today however Dave came to speak to us regarding another media venture of his called IKFAD TV.
