Firesidethis Thursday, at Matt and Georgette’s,16 Westmount Court-is our first Fireside gathering- for 2013.. to celebrate our three new members, to learn more about Rotary  and to share in fellowship (ask for a show of hands as to how many are coming_)

December 16th - is our family Christmas party- Santa will be arriving at approximately 1 PM- please bring family and friends to share with us a beautiful day of music and magic for the little ones,If you are bringing a child- please bring  wrapped,labeled present to be placed under the tree so that Santa can give it to him or her.
Also- we are collecting coats,jackets hats, ,boots,gloves and mittens to be given to Community Care and non perishable food items to give to Najeeb;s food bank.
(ask for a show of hands to see how many members/guests will be coming)
Community Care will also accept cash for clothing.

Hitz FM & Community Cares - Mike Gionet is participating in a fundraiser with Hitz FM & Community Cares on Friday Dec. 13. From 6 – 9pm.  He needs help to unload the truck. Please contact him to let him know if you can help.

Memorial Ceremony - Joe Pfeifer - with great sadness Graham Repei`s wife, Del passed November 12th, 2013.  Her memorial ceremony is on Saturday, Dec. 14th from noon at the Rockway Golf Club.

Paul Harris Awards Luncheon - November 25th - Golf Club - was a huge success with congratulations for a beautiful ceremony sent from District Governor, Kevin Crouse and Karen Oakes, Foundation Chairman. A picture of the recipients and write up has been sent to Snap to be published in their January edition.

Bingo - John Teibert - Sign-up sheets are on the tables for Bingo volunteers.  Please join in the fun!

Polioplus Bronze Award - Jim made a presentation to Lynn Beaudry for our club receiving the Rotary International District 7090 Polioplus Bronze Award.  Great job everyone!

Introduction of Speaker: Dan Toppari
Alistair Davis moved to the Niagara Region in 1998 and resides in St. Catharines with his wife Reverend Lorraine Davis.
Community involvement has always been an important part of Alistair’s life and it shows.  He was appointed the CEO of Habitat for Humanity in 2006. Alistair is an advocate and leader in Habitat’s mission to break the cycle of poverty by building safe, decent and affordable homes for low income families in need of a place to call “their home” in Niagara.

Guest Speaker: Alistair Davis - Habitat for Humanity
Habitat & Rotary work with the same values.  Habitat’s mission - to mobilize volunteers and community partners in building affordable housing and promoting home partnerships. Since the start of Habitat in 1993 they have built 40 homes in the Region.  All revenue is from donations.  Unofficial mentorship with volunteers aged 14 – 75 years old.  5578 households are on a waiting list for affordable housing.  Habitat for Humanity give a Hand Up not a hand out!  Habitat for Humanity is looking for donations of both time and money.
