June Manning all smiles as she becomes Past President!

June began today's meeting as presiding club President but after the induction of Greg MacDonald and his new board she looked very comfortable as our latest Past President. June was thrust into the role as our President on very short notice last July 1 and did so without the benefit of PETS training or the usual progression through the other positions on our executive. I think we all owe June our thanks and sincere congratulations for a job well done.

In her swan song address to the club she began by reviewing the 2007-2008 year based on how well we did following the Rotary theme or "Rotary Shares". Highlights included the opening of the Stabler Centre, our Hospice project that we shared with the May Court Club of St. Catharines. We then shared the stage with Performance cars in our fall Gala which will help fund the new Hospital's cardiac catheritization Lab. The celebration of our club's 40th anniversary at Club Roma during our spring Gala was a very special evening and hugely successful. The new direction with an international project in Jamaica in the form of a children's playground is exciting.

The one goal from last year's meeting with the District Governor that escapes us is the increase in our membership. This one that the new board will take seriously for next year.

June finished by thanking the club for all of the support that she received and singled out John Teibert for his guidance. She also thanked the club again for sending her to Los Angeles along with Greg and Sandy to the RI Convention.

Greg MacDonald then thanked June for her leadership and presented her with the mounted gavel as a souvenir for her uear.
