The Rotary Foundation

Paul has been a Rotarian for 20 years and is very proud of it. During those years, Paul has enjoyed the Friendship and help, of many Rotarians anywhere in the world. Mimi and Paul have recognized the wonderful works of Rotarians in many countries and it is part because of Rotary Foundation.

In 2000 Paul and Mimi decided to take an active part in the foundation by becoming a member of the Bequest Society.

Andrew Bowles was to help Paul with the presentation, but he is in Toronto helping his Father to go to the Hospital.

The Annual Fund donations remain with the Foundation for 3 years. The interest is used to fund the foundation's operating expenses. Then 100% of the donations are spent. At the end of the third, half of the contribution is used for Matching Grants, 3H Grants and humanitarians and educational programs such as Group Study Exchange, World peace Scholars, etc. Last year the Hamilton AM Club received a 3H Foundation Grant of $300,000.00 for their Uganda project. The other half of our contributions is returned to our District.

Two very important projects available to our Club:

  1. EVERY ROTARIAN, EVERY YEAR CLUB :

A Club can be recognized as an Every Rotarian, Every year club each year with 100% member participation and a minimum US $ 100 per capita contribution. Every active member must personally contribute and be credited with some amount to the Annual Programs Fund (APF) during the Rotary year, and the club's total APF per capita must reach or exceed $100. This annual banner recognition, based on active membership as of June 30th is automatically awarded at the conclusion of the Rotary year.

  1. 100% ROTARY FOUNDATION SUSTAINING MEMBER CLUB:

Not well publicized! 100% Rotary Foundation Sustaining Member Club recognition is awarded annually to clubs with every active member personally contributing US $ 100 in per capita contributions. This annual banner recognition, based on active membership as of June 30th is automatically awarded at the conclusion of the Rotary year.

The personal recognition involved the presentation of a sustaining member pin hat you will see proudly worn by hundreds of District 7090 Rotarians, in addition a certificate is available and has been presented to the sustaining members in our District.

Welland and Niagara-On-The-Lake are some examples of this wonderful contribution.

During our last assembly our incoming President Don Hetherington was very proud to let us know that our club was way ahead of the other clubs in our district so let's embark on a very challenging project that will involve 100% of our active members, and benefit many human beings in the world.
