ROTARY HALL - Cave Springs Camp
President Brenda Kell-Kotwa called the meeting to order with 14 Lincoln Rotarians + 3 guests in attendance. A warm welcome was extended to Dale Hatch along with mother & daughter duo, Erin & Lindsey Accadia. Lindsey has submitted her Rotary Youth Exchange application to Lincoln Rotary. She is a Grade 12 student at West Niagara Secondary School.
Paul Roth opened the meeting with an indigenous land acknowledgment and invited all to toast Canada, the King & Rotary International.
There was a substantial buzz in the room as members shared results of the municipal election held the day before, Monday, October 24. Congratulations abounded for Joanne Serkeyn on her outstanding run for Town of Lincoln Councillor in Ward 1 & Anna Murre for her victory as Town of Lincoln Councillor in Ward 3. For her Point of Pride, Margaret Andrewes spoke about the incredibly strong campaigns of both Joanne & Anna and how proud she was that voters in our town have moved the dial on gender parity with four women now serving as elected municipal leaders as compared to only one woman when she stepped away from Council in 2010.
Registrar Bill Wiley had the winning draw ticket but pulled the three of spades rather than the winning ace of spades for the jackpot.
HAPPY BUCKS were offered up by all! The bucks came with more congratulations for Anna & Joanne as well as Rob Foster on his acclamation as Regional Councillor. All three were definitely happy that the election was over & expressed their appreciation for the substantial support received from Lincoln Rotarians in lead up to election day. Many members were happy about the fine weather and the glorious colours making for breathtaking landscapes throughout Niagara and beyond this fall. Others spoke about recent happy outings with family & friends. Terry Kotwa was happy about Diwali celebrations (October 22-26) among his employees and nurtured by the growing practice of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) at Tiercon.

IN MEMORIAM
Tim Voronoff, a loyal and generous Lincoln Rotarian for many years, passed away on October 20, 2022. When greeting him with a "How are you, Tim?", his stock answer was "ABSOLUTELY MARVELLOUS!", which always brought a smile. A celebration of life will be held in honour of Tim at 20 Valley Golf and Country Club on Wednesday, November 9, 2:00pm - 5:00pm.

LINCOLN ROTARY'S 25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
Debbie Klassen & President Brenda outlined plans for the celebratory wine & cheese reception, scheduled November 4, 2022, at Rotary Hall, Cave Springs Camp. They reported that the number of positive responses to the invitation was relatively low to date and encouraged members to help rally former club members and community supporters to join in the celebration. Members of the Anniversary Committee are Brenda, Debbie & Bill Wiley.
FESTIVE BREAKFAST CELEBRATION
For many years, Joanne Serkeyn has provided the leadership for a much anticipated annual holiday celebration for the students at Dr. J. Edgar Davey Elementary School, 195 Ferguson Avenue, Hamilton. Here is Joanne's APPEAL to Lincoln Rotarians...
As the event founder and organizer, I am excited to announce that after two years, the 18th Annual Dr. J. Edgar Davey Festive Breakfast will be taking place this December. The tentative dates are Tuesday December 13th and Tuesday December 20th, 2022.
As you may not be aware, Dr Edgar Davey School has been identified as having the highest needs among Hamilton's schools in terms of economics, education levels and single parent families. For some, their families are immigrants or refugees struggling to put food on the table. Many come to school in hunger not having had breakfast. Approximately 430 children from diverse backgrounds (as many as 32 different languages are spoken) attend Dr. J. Edgar Davey School.
Ancaster AM Rotary Club, Hamilton Police Services, Hamilton Fire Fighters, and other community groups are coming together to offer these inner city children a holiday celebration they would not likely receive at home or soon forget. The kids will be served a hot and delicious breakfast to show the importance of nutrition with learning. Each will also receive a special gift from Santa to show this community cares very much about them and the joy of giving.
Unfortunately, this year Montana's in unable to sponsor the healthy breakfast normally served at this event. I am looking for sponsorship to provide the children a hot healthy breakfast. The breakfast normally entails, eggs or pancakes, toast or bun, cereal, milk, juice and fruit. I am open to cooking the food myself with the assistance of volunteers or having a sponsor cook the food for the children with volunteers assisting in serving the food.
