Learn how to make your club experience irresistible by attending the District 7090 Membership Summit.Attendees will learn how to enhance the member experience to increase retention rates, expand their reach to attract new members, leverage the collective expertise of other Rotary clubs throughout the District, and hear from non-Rotarians in the young adults, entrepreneurs, and newly retired folks about their interests and what would draw them to joining a Rotary Club to help you build out your messaging and adapt your culture. Attendees will be equipped with a Membership Action Plan to take back to their club and implement the strategies learned from the day.
President Joanne Serkeyn welcomed 14 Lincoln Rotarians to the meeting. Pod #1 members led the opening exercises...
Lindsay Dressel offered the land acknowledgment. Debbie Klassen followed with her inspiring Thought for the Day & Point of Pride based on the Chinese proverb:
“If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a year, inherit a fortune. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help somebody.”
Deb submitted that helping people is what we do as Rotarians. “We do it in many different ways but the one I want to highlight is Youth Exchange. We help young people become confident young leaders. They learn about different cultures, there is no better way to promote inclusion and peace. I am proud of our club and the leadership of our President Joanne in making this happen again in our club. We change the lives of these students for the better.”
Debbie proposed a toast to Canada and Rotary.

Lindsay - for her in laws on their milestone 50th wedding anniversary recently
Joanne - for a wonderful learning experience at the RI Action Zone (28 & 32) Summit held in Toronto Sept 17-22. She was inspired by the stories of global leaders and everyday Rotary members who are true action heroes. She was also happy that her dog did not destroy her parents’ home while she was at the summit.
Maria - for her trip to North Carolina to visit her friend who she has not seen for 15 years & an enjoyable outing with her son and his partner to Niagara-on-the-Lake for the theatre and dinner
Martha - for attending the Shaw Theatre performance of “My Fair Lady” with her granddaughters and Coco
Bob - thankful to Debbie for her Thought for the Day, which let him ‘off the hook’
Rob - to have tickets for two more productions at Shaw this fall
John K - for fun at the Food Drive with his grand girls
Andy - for time with his sons ‘out golfing’
Jennifer - that her 95-year-old Dad is home from hospital following a successful procedure last week
Debbie - her granddaughter, Emily, had a host father who was a police officer when she was a Rotary Exchange Student. She is now a police constable and engaged
Sue - loved her recent cruise that took them from Montreal to Boston via Newfoundland & very thankful that her sister Cathy is CANCER FREE!
Barb - that George is also CANCER FREE!

Rotary International Statement of Conduct for Working With Youth
Rotary International strives to create and maintain a safe environment for all youth who participate in Rotary activities. To the best of their ability, Rotary members, their partners,
and other volunteers must safeguard the children and young people with whom they come into contact and protect them from physical, sexual, and psychological abuse.
President Joanne with assistance from Lindsay led club members in a lively group learning session using a Rotary International tutorial to heighten awareness about appropriate behaviours and conversations for Rotary volunteers when working with youth. Lincoln Rotary's primary focus is youth services so it's essential that all members are up-to-date with their Police Vulnerable Service Checks and vigilant in ensuring a safe environment for the youth that we interact with and serve.
