RCL Paul Harris Award Events
Tuesday, May 17 - In lieu of a club social on May 31, Lincoln Rotary will be celebrating Lorraine Yoko with a Paul Harris Fellowship Award presentation at a dinner hosted by Debbie & Henry Klassen. Lorraine & her husband, Grant Yoko, have made special arrangements to attend this in-person event as they make their way home to South Africa from the US.
Thursday, June 16 - Lincoln Rotary is hosting a reception and awards presentation event to celebrate Rob Foster, Sue Foster, Nancy Neville & Ruth Smith as Paul Harris Fellows at Rockway Vineyards Golf Club. Watch for your invitation with full details to be distributed by email during the week of May 23.

Air Cadets are unavailable to take the lead with parking. Organizers are looking for suggestions for another local organization to be recruited for this task for which a weekly honorarium is offered.
RCL SUPPORT FOR LOCAL COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS
The Board of Directors is proposing a $1000 donation to The Owl Foundation as recommended by the RCL Environment Committee. In addition, a Cave Springs Camp Bursary with a 5-year commitment is proposed. More details to be provided during 2022-23 budget discussions at Club Assembly on June 14.

"Birds are My Best Friends"
Presentation by Ravi & Sahil Danda
While camping at Bon Echo Provincial Park in Summer 2021, John & Martha Kralt and their family were introduced to the Danda Family. Ravi Danda's passion for the outdoors has been a pre-occupation since he was 12 years old when he began hiking in the Sahyadri Mountains near the outskirts of his home in Mumbai, India. Since emigrating to Canada and now, living in Oakville, ON, Ravi, his wife and son, enjoy hiking & camping in locations throughout Southern Ontario. On his Linkedin page, Ravi includes IT Consultant, Equitable Bank, along with Camping and Hiking Specialist, as his current occupations with the following notation about the latter... "Active on Geocaching, iNaturalist and eBird recording flora and fauna. I love nature photography. This job doesn’t pay me but gives me my sanity to excel in my other jobs :)"
Over the years, Ravi has shared his outdoor adventures with family, friends, work colleagues, etc. Now, with his 11-year old son, Sahil, he has an eager and enthusiastic partner. Thanks to John Kralt's invitation, Lincoln Rotarians welcomed Ravi & Sahil for what resulted in a most delightful and enlightening presentation featuring some 20 different species of songbirds that they have sited during their explorations in Ontario.
Armed with a binder of full colour photos, Sahil charmed us all with his knowledge of each of the birds - characteristics, habits, habitats, etc. From time to time, Ravi offered additional details but Sahil definitely 'stole the show'. Together, Ravi & Sahil are building their repertoire on songbirds, water birds, birds of prey, and continuing their presentations to all types of audiences. Of particular interest to them is the opportunity to relate their stories to the impacts of climate change on wildlife and the environment.
Recently, Ravi has expanded his repertoire of skills as a nature specialist and photographer to that of artist. He brought an impressive collection of his works for display and received rave reviews.
