ROTARY HALL - Cave Springs Camp
President Brenda Kell-Kotwa welcomed 18 Lincoln Rotarians when she called the meeting to order at 7:30am.
Lindsay Dressel shared the following invocation poem before toasting the Rotary Club of Lincoln, Rotary International & the King.
Service happens in laughter and friendship. Service happens in quiet conviction. Service happens with firm intention.
Service happens in growing kinship to all humanity in attention to Service Above Self.
For her Point of Pride, President Brenda announced that the Rotary Club of Lincoln is being recognized with an End Polio Now: Countdown to History Campaign Certificate of Appreciation. This recognition comes to clubs that have contributed at least $1,500 USD to Rotary’s polio eradication efforts. In 2021-22, RCL contributed $2,000 CAD.

Request that members submit nominations or declarations of interest for RCL 2023/24 President Elect and other positions on the Board of Directors to Succession Planning Committee (Terry Kotwa, Joannue Serkeyn, Brenda Kell-Kotwa) in preparation for bringing forward to the Annual General Meeting on December 10.

RCL's Lamplighter Tour 2022 netted a grand total of $17,000. Martha Kralt, Producer, was pleased to present a certificate to David Wood & John Kralt, both members of the Cave Springs Camp Board of Directors, in appreciation for the use of the camp facilities for the event.
PROGRAM
November is THE ROTARY FOUNDATION MONTH
Rob Foster, Chair Rotary Foundation Committee, hosted the program supported by Sue Foster & Margaret Andrewes.
At the outset, Rob invited the club's consideration of a $2,000 cash contribution to the Dr. J Edgar Davey Elementary School HOLIDAY BREAKFAST, a community project being led by Joanne Serkeyn. The funds are to help subsidize the cost of food supplies along with gifts for the more than 500 students attending the celebration. Dr. Davey has been identified as having the highest needs among Hamilton's schools in terms of economics, education levels and single parent families.
MOTION:
Be it resolved that the club adds $2,000.00 to its 2022-23 spending to go towards the Dr. Davey School 2022 Christmas Breakfast.

A number of Lincoln Rotarians have already stepped up as volunteers and with financial donations for the event. Terry Kotwa was pleased to announce that Tiercon has contributed $1000. Joanne expressed her deep appreciation for all that is being done to enable the success of the event and will keep everyone posted as plans move forward.

The remainder of the program covered a number of items specific to Lincoln Rotary's support for The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International in addition to the club's impact through its Global and District Grant Projects over the past few years...
RCL's support for The Rotary Foundation (TRF) - While RCL has continued its annual contributions of $2000 CAD to the TRF PolioPlus Fund, the club has not donated directly to TRF Annual Fund-SHARE since 2018-19. Instead, individual members are urged to make personal donations of $25-$100 USD in support of the Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) initiative that asks every Rotarian to support The Rotary Foundation every year.
Through the SHARE system, contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into grants that fund local and international humanitarian projects, scholarships, and activities. At the end of every Rotary year, contributions directed to the Annual Fund-SHARE from all Rotary clubs in the district are divided between the World Fund and the District Designated Fund (DDF), after 5% is deducted for operating expenses.'

Eliminating Preventable Maternal & Child Mortality in Guatemala
CLUSTER GRANT PROJECT - $84,500 USD

October 2021 - July 2022 - 42 midwives completed training in SACATEPÉQUEZ
Project results are now being collected by the Perinatal Association of Guatemala with support from Operation Needs Canada

Niagara Afghan Refugee Resettlement Assistance Program (RAP)
COLLABORATIVE GRANT PROJECT - $7,000 CAD
6 Afghan families, each of whom are resettling in Niagara, to be equipped with a LAPTOP COMPUTER configured with Microsoft Pro software & ready for use
Computers are being distributed by Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre - the lead agency for Niagara Refugee RAP
Since 2016, Lincoln Rotary has completed FIVE additional District Grant Projects locally and TWO District Grant Projects internationally. Total value of projects to date = $33,000 CAD with approximately 50% covered by The Rotary Foundation District Grant Program through Rotary District 7090
Before adjournment, President Brenda invited HAPPY BUCKS! Members shared news of travels (theirs & their families), celebrations, political & civic activities, etc. Of particular note was Sue's story of her visit to Moyer's Apple Products Inc. & all she learned about the phenomenal growth of their candied apple business and contribution to the supply of N95 masks for healthcare workers during the height of the pandemic; Phil's success as a beekeeper - 2 hives that produced 50 jars of honey this year; Bill's recollections on camping out in Guatemala while on a project with Wells of Hope and Beamsville District Secondary School Interact Club members - circa 2005. And, we all sang Happy Birthday to Lindsay!!!
