President Joanne Serkeyn welcomed 18 Lincoln Rotarians + Guests Jennifer Toews & Ryan Kaupert
Pod #3 members conducted the opening exercises - Sue Foster offered the land acknowledgment(now available on a laminated sheet at registration). Phil Goodwin shared an Old Chinese Proverb: "If you want happiness for an hour, take a nap. If you want happiness for a day, go fishing. If you want happiness for a lifetime, help someone else." He followed with a toast to the King and Rotary.
For her Point of Pride, Sue featured Lincoln Rotary's participation at Mayor Easton's Golf Tournament (May 22). Golfers received free packets of cookies from the club and purchased tickets on two baskets of wine offered as raffle prizes. The raffle successfully earned $680 for the club. She thanked Barb Mitges for arranging for the cookies, John Maynard for donating the wine, and other members for their help on what was a very windy day on the course at Twenty Valley Golf & Country Club.

2. RCL Budget (2024-2025)
Treasurer John Maynard provided a thorough overview of the proposed RCL budget for Fiscal Year (July 1, 2024 - June 30, 2025). The 4-page document was distributed via email to all members on Monday, May 27. A final review of the budget will be completed by the Board of Directors at its meeting on June 10.
3. “Survive to Thrive” Preliminary Global Grant 2024 Proposal
In follow-up to the presentation provided by Margaret, Sue & Alice at the club meeting on May 14, members considered the request for Lincoln Rotary to invest $5,000 USD as one-third of the estimated total cost for a community assessment. The assessment must be completed and approved by Rotary International before commencing the grant application process.
MOTION: To afford up to $5,000 USD from the 2023-2024 RCL Budget as Lincoln Rotary’s share of the estimated cost of a community assessment in advance of applying for a Global Grant to fund the establishment of Nutrition & Early Child Development Programs in two or more communities in the Health District of Paquip, Department of Chimaltenango, Guatemala.

4. RCL Public Image
Rotary Club of Lincoln has entered a Pro Bono Client Contract with Civiconnect for the marketing of club projects & events and increasing our Rotary image via social media. This is an invaluable service to our club for promoting events, recruiting volunteers, and spreading the word about Rotary and specifically, our club, in all that we do in the communities we serve.
The contract was facilitated by Lindsay Dressel & Sue Foster, RCL representatives, and Nour Hage, Civiconnect. The contract runs from June through August 2024.
Because of time constraints during our meeting, Rob Foster distributed this report by email later on the morning of May 28.
Every Rotarian Every Year
The 2024-25 budget includes funds to top up our club’s givings to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) of Rotary International to meet the minimum Every Rotarian Every Year value. Individual members are encouraged to make personal donations to TRF -- the donation link is on our website.
District Grant 2024-25
Our grant regarding the Vineland Community Garden Hub has been tentatively approved by D7090 committee and has moved to the next stage. Reality, based on past experience, this is a done deal.
Our Cluster Funding for D7090
This is our $1000 USD commitment towards the cluster grant process, which we are continuing. It makes sense as we have both received funding in the past and are likely to have a global grant in the future that quite possibly will be funded.
Partnership with Niagara Falls Rotary
Niagara Falls is taking the lead with a 2024-25 District Grant Project (Kenya/shoes) to which we are partnering...in part as a payback for their help with our District Grant regarding Afghan refugees resettlement laptop project (Niagara Folk Arts) from two years ago.
Additional Community Funding
The Foundation committee, board and club have agreed to distribute $1000 each to the following groups: Big Brother Big Sisters, FORT, Upper Deck, VOH and CCWN. Committee will be meeting to bring back suggested additional funding suggestions for decision(s) in June.
