At Rotary Hall at Cave Springs Camp, President Brenda Kell-Kotwa welcomed 13 Lincoln Rotarians + 1 guest to the meeting. Paul Roth opened the meeting with a thoughtful indigenous land acknowledgment and invited all to toast Rotary, Canada & King Charles III. For her Point of Pride, Joanne Serkeyn gave a shout out to her "cycling buddies", Andy Fluit & Bill Wiley, who joined her in the recent District 7090 Participate for Polio ride on October 1, 2022. In the name of the Rotary Club of Lincoln, the team raised $780 in support of The Rotary Foundation PolioPlus Fund. She expressed special thanks to club members who sponsored the team's participation.
Joanne also took the opportunity to introduce her guest, Tiana Sherback, who has submitted her Rotary Youth Exchange application to Lincoln Rotary. Tiana is a Grade 12 student at West Niagara Secondary School. By chance, Tiana pulled Joanne's ticket for the draw but Joanne was not successful in pulling the ace of spades for the jackpot.
Members' plentiful offering of HAPPY BUCKS proferred happy birthday wishes for Brenda Kell-Kotwa and Barb Mitges; thankfulness for the wonderful weather and festive gatherings with family and friends over Thanksgiving weekend; accolades for Martha Kralt, her production team, the actors +++ for the resounding success of Lamplighter Tour 2022; tales of exciting trips abroad to Paris, Italy, Romania/Hungary; memorable hiking in Newfoundland; and more...
Brenda concluded with her recommendation for the movie, "Peace by Chocolate", which she watched en route to and from Paris. "After the bombing of his father's chocolate factory, a charming young Syrian refugee struggles to settle into his new small-town life in Antigonish, Nova Scotia, caught between following his dream and preserving his family's legacy."Brenda explained that the family's chocolate business is doing very well and a percentage of sales goes to peacemaking. ANNOUNCEMENTS
The Board of Directors is recommending a NEW FUNDRAISING PROJECT. Joanne provided a brief overview of the project to be modelled on the very successful Tour de Guelph (https://tourdeguelph.ca/). She explained that it is a one-day cycling tour with great potential for engaging local community members and tourists alike. The Rotary Clubs involved in the Tour de Guelph along with an advertising sponsor have confirmed their support for advancing the project. And, preliminary discussions with Mayor Easton & other Town of Lincoln officials have been productive. There was unanimous consensus among club members in attendance at the meeting for moving forward with the project for development and implementation in 2023.

Lincoln Rotarian Bob Groh, retired architect and now, BEEKEEPER, shared his story of how his CURIOSITYfor bees has evolved into a FASCINATION. He is the keeper of three beehives on a property in Vineland. Through a series of images on the BIG SCREEN, Bob featured details about Langstroth Hives in which his honey bees live; the respective roles & cycles of the worker & drone bees & their queen in each "colony"; bee swarming; honey production & flavouring & more... Should you be interested, Bob is easily accessible and ever ready to share his bees and all that they're about!
