"After Christmas Celebration" via Zoom

Extending her good wishes at this first meeting in 2022, President Brenda Kell-Kotwa welcomed 22 Lincoln Rotarians - all of whom appeared in a celebratory mood.
Margaret Andrewes shared a traditional native blessing as her INVOCATION..."May you have the strength of eagles' wings, the faith and courage to fly to new heights and the wisdom of the universe to carry you there." Her toast was to the good health and well-being of each other, our club, our community, and our country.
Gayle Lucas-Roth followed with her POINT OF PRIDE. She explained that while she and Paul had been in the area of Rotary Park in Beamsville over the holidays, they were so excited to observe how many families were thoroughly enjoying the park amenities in spite of the chilly weather proving that it is a "park for all seasons" and a truly proud achievement for our club and community.
At the invitation of our PREZ, everyone joined in the round of HAPPY STORIES shared from their HOLIDAY 2021 CELEBRATIONS...
Sue, Barb, Maria, David F, Phil, Martha, Andy, Debbie & Vernah all indicated how HAPPY they were that their families continue to be COVID-free and how fortunate they felt to have enjoyed spending time with family & friends, albeit in small groups, throughout the season. The Flemings, Fluits & Kralts welcomed family members home from faraway places including Oregon, British Columbia & Northwest Territories.
Andy noted that his family's celebrations included a milestone birthday for Rita. HAPPY 70th BIRTHDAY, Rita!
Speaking of HAPPY birthdays, Katie shared that for hers on December 29, she and her partner, Chris, enjoyed a "great escape" in Elora to celebrate.
While suffering from a cold over the holidays, Bob G HAPPILY secured the meds he seriously needed from his neighbours, The Kotwas.
Rob echoed Sue's HAPPINESS for visits with their children and families living in other locales in Southern Ontario and also shared that he has HAPPILY achieved his Masters in Public Administration from Western University. CONGRATULATIONS Rob! Further, Rob is now molding student minds as a Course Instructor in Communications at Niagara College.
Margaret was HAPPY to show off her cosy scarf, handmade by a dear friend as a Christmas gift.
Gayle explained that during the fall, Paul had been suffering from a virus, which had seriously compromised his health. Fortunately, the virus has been arrested and she is HAPPY and so very thankful that Paul is much better and feeling like his 'old self' again.
Joanne is HAPPY to have connected with a student at Beamsville District Secondary School who is keen to work with her on the establishment of an Interact Club.
Terry & Brenda are HAPPY that Allie & Nathan have moved out from under their roof and are now comfortably residing in their own home in Welland. Brenda HAPPILY quipped, "Now that the kids are out, my kitchen is clean."
FUN & GAMES
The celebration continued with a SCAVENGER HUNT for which Sue provided a list of some 20 items (everything from a photo of our parents to a Rotary pin to something that floats, a 2021 calendar, a bouncing ball +++)
And, Brenda gave all participants 10 minutes to search our homes to see how many of the items we could each find... John Lundrigan, who had amassed at least 14 of the items, was declared the WINNER!
CONGRATULATIONS John!
The fun continued with an improv game called FIVE THINGS that got our creative juices flowing. Each participant, named a TOPIC and the name of a person. The person named had 15 seconds to list five specific things within that topic.
For example, here are the things that Gayle was able to proffer for the TOPIC: Heritage Village... Swimming, Pool, Billards, Walking, Table Tennis, Neighbours. Other topics included Steel, Resort, Playground, Snow, Cycling, Restaurant, Exciting Things to do in Lincoln, etc.
As it turned out, EVERYONE was up to the challenge & we all had a lot of laughs together.
As the clock struck 9:00am, we bid farewell and thanked President Brenda for a great time. In turn, she adjourned the meeting with the 4-way test.
