Peter will talk about Ontario’s owls and the work done by the Vineland-based Owl Foundation rescuing and rehabilitating injured and orphaned owls. The Owl Foundation treats more than a hundred owls a year. Peter's presentation looks at the mishaps (mostly man-made) that befall owls, the treatment and care they receive at the Owl Foundation.

In her INVOCATION, Brenda gave thanks to all for joining the meeting & invited all to enjoy the fellowship and share in serving our community. She followed with a TOAST to our club on its 25th anniversary and Queen Elizabeth on her 70-year reign.

Guest Speaker: Elisabeth Zimmermann
Elisabeth has worked for over 25 years in the non-profit human services sector, the last 15 years as Executive Director of the YWCA Niagara Region, a non-profit organization working with homeless women and their families providing emergency shelter, transitional supported housing, ongoing support services and advocacy. Prior to the YW, Elisabeth headed up Community Care of West Niagara right here in Lincoln where she makes her home in Tintern to this day.
Thanks to her deep understanding of the importance of addressing the issues of poverty, and the need for quality support systems to minimize the long-term impact of systemic inequalities, YWCA Niagara Region is positioned as a leader in addressing barriers with a women’s focussed-lens among community and government agencies.
Elisabeth’s expertise is widely sought and highly respected throughout the Niagara Region. She is currently a member of Niagara Health Board of Trustees; Non-Profit Council for Greater Niagara Chamber of Commerce (GNCC); and Government Advisory Council for GNCC. And, she is an active partner in carrying out Niagara Region’s 10-year Housing and Homelessness Action Plan, which she helped to draft before it was launched in 2014.
Elisabeth was honoured in 2014 with the Greater Niagara Chamber's Women in Business Award for her community spirit and in 2021 with the Women in Business Excellence in Non-Profit Award.

•Support and assistance for clients upon completion of the WNAH program
BEA'S PLACE
In Summer 2021, the YW invested in an 11-unit apartment building on Maple Avenue in Beamsville
with the goal of keeping housing affordable in West Niagara.
In conclusion, Elisabeth spoke about Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) West Niagara and expressed much appreciation to the Rotary Club of Lincoln for its longstanding support. All funds raised through CNOY support the YWCA's West Niagara Affordable Housing program to provide transitional supportive housing in Grimsby, Lincoln & West Lincoln, which leads individuals to self-sufficiency within the time frame of one to three years.
As proud supporters of CNOY 2022 West Niagara, the AWESOME Rotary Club of Lincoln Team has garnered$7,165 as of February 21, 2022and is theTOP FUNDRAISER of 24 teams.
