CLUB MEETING HIGHLIGHTS - November 22, 2022

President Brenda Kell-Kotwa called the VIRTUAL MEETING to order at 7:30am. She welcomed Visiting Rotarian Aaron Carlson. Registrar Paul Roth reported 18 Lincoln Rotarians in attendance.

To start, Brenda offered "Tips from Grandma" for reflection...
Don't go where you're not invited.
Don't talk about what you don't know.
Don't open the fridge in other people's house.
Don't call someone after nine o'clock at night.
Don't visit someone at lunch.
Don't enter other people's bedroom without permission.
Always flush the toilet when you use it.
Always, always ~ speak the truth.
Please & Thank You are good words ~ use them often.
Love the soul of people, not their physical ~ it is what is inside that matters.
Be kind to your fellow humans & all living things.
Give from the little you have, expect nothing in return.
Be conscious of your words ~ they matter!
Wake up & be grateful.
Pray daily because prayer brings peace to our heart & soul.

Sue Foster followed with her Point of Pride about the awesome things Lincoln Rotary has done internationally through our Global Grant Project in Guatemala, which is wrapping up after three years of implementation, & locally through our most recent District Grant Project with the delivery of new laptop computers to the Niagara Folk Arts Multicultural Centre for distribution to Afghan families through the Refugee Assistance Program (RAP).

PROGRAM
TOPIC: Strategic Planning & Rotary Foundation Health Check
GUEST FACILITATOR: Aaron Carlson
Member of the Rotary Club of Lockport; Assistant District Governor, Area 12 (Akron-Newstead, Clarence, Eastern Hills, Lockport and Middleport Rotary Clubs); 2022-23 Club District Grant Chair supporting all D7090 clubs in accessing funds from the Annual Fund SHARE program to implement their service projects that impact their local communities. Aaron resides in Medina with his partner and two akitas. Professionally, Aaron is the Executive Director of Hearts and Hands a non-profit supporting older adults with access to transportation.

Opening his presentation tailored to our club with FOUR LEARNING OBJECTIVES, Aaron proceeded to build the case for tying Lincoln Rotary's STRATEGIC PLAN & District 7090's Foundation Strategic Plan Priorities to Rotary International's ACTION PLAN to...

> Increase our impact
> Expand our reach
> Enhance participant engagement
> Increase our ability to adapt

Aaron touched on many of RCL's initiatives as he expanded on additional opportunities under each of these FOUR goals as set out in RI's ACTION PLAN. He concluded with an analysis of RCL's contributions to The Rotary Foundation in recent years.

RCL's support for The Rotary Foundation (TRF) - While RCL has continued its annual contributions of $2000 CAD to the TRF PolioPlus Fund, the club has not donated directly to TRF Annual Fund-SHARE since 2018-19. Instead, individual members are urged to make personal donations of  $25-$100 USD in support of the Every Rotarian Every Year (EREY) initiative that asks every Rotarian to support The Rotary Foundation every year.

Click to DONATE

Through the SHARE system, contributions to The Rotary Foundation are transformed into grants that fund local and international humanitarian projects, scholarships, and activities. At the end of every Rotary year, contributions directed to the Annual Fund-SHARE from all Rotary clubs in the district are divided between the World Fund and the District Designated Fund (DDF), after 5% is deducted for operating expenses.

To conclude his interactive, thoughtful & clear presentation, Aaron focused on how OUR MONEY donated to The Rotary Foundation is STEWARDED at the international & district levels. He ended with the following hyperlinks ready for exploring & a slide featuring the team of Rotarians who are leading the way for The Rotary Foundation in District 7090.
