Rotary International has set as one of its goals to plant one tree for every Rotarian. Lincoln Rotary Club has a chance to partner with Ontariogreen to help plant 150 trees at two local parks. This tree planting will be taking place at Meadowood Park in Beamsville a park that the Rotary Club of Lincoln helped with buying playground equipment. Please let Sue know if you are able to participate so we can let Liz Benneian of Ontariogreen know number of participants to expect. |

Provides transitional housing to individuals and families in Lincoln, Grimsby and West Lincoln who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. A non-competitive 2km, 5km, or 10km that raises awareness about and funds for the fight against poverty and homelessness. Walk registration and start at Grimsby Secondary School . The Val Fleming Butterfly Garden Improving the beauty and biodiversity of our public spaces
Proposed by: Vernah Fleming, vernah.fleming@hotmail.com, phone: 905 984 0824 Liz Benneian, ontariogreenca@gmail.com, phone: 905 562 3819 Proposal: To create a native plant, shrub and tree teaching garden in a corner of the Fleming Arena complex park Purpose: To add a beautiful attraction to a Town Park and educate the public about the benefits of native plants and the importance of enhancing biodiversity. Timing: Planning to be completed during 2017/2018. Funding: A donation of $20,000 has been provided by Val Fleming to the charitable organization Ontariogreen that will hold the money in trust and pay out as work is completed. Management of Project: The project will be undertaken in partnership with the Town of Lincoln. Theplanning and construction of the project will be overseen by a the three-person VF Butterfly Garden Committee. Members of the committee include Vernah Fleming, Liz Benneian, of Ontariogreen and a volunteer from the community. The project will work in conjunction with Manager of Facilities and Parks who, in conjunction with Council, will have final approval on garden design. |
