Speaker for Monday, Febuary 10, 2014 - Steve Robbins of Helmers Publishing, Inc.

Steve Robbins. A true native born in Peterborough in 1952, moved to Keene five years later where his father was the owner of Derby's of Keene. His parents, Roy and Sylvia, are fondly remembered.

At age 12 Steve made his first wine. His interest in fermentation has continued to the present time. 7

Steve and his wife Mame left their jobs in 1991 and spent the next two years sailing up and down the east coast from the Bahamas to Maine. After this sabbatical they sought a farm to purchase Where they could grow market produce. In five years they found the farm property of their dreams in Westmoreland. Over time their efforts turned to raising grapes and starting a winery.

Steve worked at IDG Peterborough from 1983 to 1995, except for the two-year sailing adventure. From that time he worked at Helmers Publishing and Advanstar in downtown

Peterborough. He purchased Helmers Publishing in 2006 and continues to operate that company from its offices in Dublin. - See more at: http://portal.clubrunner.ca/2949/Speakers/28e4b8bc-3064-462e-93ca-f4ccfd29e6a4#sthash.jzqZHDFO.dpuf
