On June 5th, The Rotary Club of Nashua announced the Rotary Club of Nashua 2023 Scholarship Awards. Paige Hultman and Jane Marquis (co-chairs of the Scholarship Committee) welcomed families and recipients. The committee was Nick Coffey, Steve Hedges, Doug Barry,  Casey Castor and Chuck Rehberg.
Over 20 applications were received and 12 applicants were interviewed before making the final selection.  $40,000 in Scholarship funds was provided for the recipients in the budget by the club.
 
Marianne Mederos spoke briefly as  a previous recipient Rotary Scholarship 2021 recipient who is on Dean’s s list with 4.0 GPA at Keene State. She is very active with a number of Educator related clubs and activities at the school.  She is very thankful to Rotary for the scholarship she received from the club.
 
Jenna Hamelin, a previous 2022 recipient who is attending UNH also spoke. She is studying to be a physical therapist.  She assists admissions at the university as well as various programs supporting physical activity and exercise.  She also participates in many PT related clubs and groups on campus. 
 
A letter from a past recipient, Mina, thanked the club for its scholarship while she attends UC – Davis in California.  She has joined the Roteract club at the university and is enjoying their activities.  She is a biology major as well as being very active in other clubs. 
 
Steve Hedges presented the first scholarship, the Arsenault-Faucher Memorial Scholarship of $10,000 (4 years at $2500 per year) to Acadia Gelineau . She attends NHS – North and will be studying Marine Biology at NOVA, in Florida.
 
Paige Hultman presented the 2nd $10,000 award to Annie Connolly.  She will attend UConn as a business major.   She had worked at Surf in Nashua and is very appreciative of the support by the club.  She recognized many Surf regulars among the members.  She also attended NHS - North
 
Doug Barry presented the 3rd $10,000 award to Margaret Nalen who will attend Tufts University and New England Conservatory in a dual program to study biology continue trying to master the saxophone.   Like the other recipients, she was on many clubs and very active during her high school years while attending NHS - North
 
Kishan Angadi was the 4th recipient of a $5000 scholarship.  He will study at Uconn to become a biomedical engineer.  Kishan was very involved at the Humane society and athletics. He attends Nashua HS - South
 
Cailin Carbonneau was the final $5000 scholarship recipient.  She will study nursing at UMass Lowell. She also attended NHS – North and had impressive extracurricular activities. 
 
All the applicants and recipients were outstanding students with impressive school and out of school activities.  The committee worked very hard to make the selections.  Bob James closed by thank all the committee for the efforts in choosing the best of the best.
