On May 15th, Nashua Rotary members Dr. Ryan Barclay and Dr. Jerrilyn Sullivan, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding the history and benefits of chiropractic. David Palmer found the connection between chiropractic and health in 1895. He went on open a very successful clinic in Davenport, Iowa.  It takes many years of school to become a chiropractor – 4 year college science degree, 4 years of chiropractic school, 3 national board tests, a state board test, and continuing education.
Chiropractic takes a holistic approach to healing and wellness versus the traditional medical practice of treating the symptoms, generally with drugs that very often produce no results except new symptoms.  The focus of chiropractic is getting to the cause of the problem and correcting it naturally.  Chiropractors locate, analyze and correct misalignments of the spine (subluxations) that are putting pressure on nerves causing problems in different parts of the body.   Chiropractic is not just for those experiencing neck and low back pain.  It is effective in treating a wide range of ailments such as diabetes, headaches, digestive problems, asthma, and fibromyalgia.  It has proven beneficial for children with ADHD, colic, and constipation. Not just for treating ailments, chiropractic can be part of an overall wellness program as it keeps in immune system working properly.
