
On June 12th, The Rotary Club of Nashua announced the recipiants of the Rotary Club of Nashua 2023 Community Grant Awards. The Community Grants committee includes: Bob James, Charlie Hall, Theresa Lussier, John Sias, Bill Barry, Jeb Curelop and Deb Novotny. Ninteen Organizations applied for community grants. The decisions to pick the winners were very challenging, and grants were selected for 4 winners ranging from $4,000-10,000. Grants are meant to help organizations with a specific project/purpose.
Recipient: Bridges, Pam Auer and Tara Levine, $4,000
- Bridges helps with transitional and safe housing for victims of domestic and/or sexual violence
- Bridges is planning to use the grant to support their replacement of 12 computers for their new database.
Recipient: Marguerite’s Place, Hannah Stohler, $6,000
- They plan to use the grant for their Economic Empowerment Pilot Program, which will help teach financial literacy to their community and neighborhood families.
- Marguerite’s Place provides transitional housing and childcare for the homeless.
Recipient: The Nashua Center, Emily Manire, $5,000
- Provides services to those with developmental disabilities and brain injuries in the Nashua area.
- The grant will be used specifically for their Children’s Pyramid Program to help nonverbal autistic children receive resources and devices to aid in communication.
Recipient: Stepping Stones, Zach Paone, $10,000
- Serves youth (under 25 years old) experiencing homelessness in the Nashua area. They frequently help young people experiencing homelessness or transitioning from foster care.
- They plan to use the grant to help with a StepUp program to help their population learn skills to be independent and financially literate through budgeting classes.
- The people they are serving progress through their program and gain more responsibility and privileges as they work through the steps of the program. Their final step includes living in near market value rental apartments without social services assistance.
- They help about 15 youth per day!
