On July 8th, Mayor Jim Donchess, addressed the Rotary Club of Nashua regarding, the state of the City of Nashua.

  • Housing Supply – Development in progress to address workforce and affordable housing.  Plans at former Nimco site (200-3000 units) as well as former tannery.  The city received $16M in AARPA funds for projects in the city. 
  • Homelessness – City is working with Police to track homeless population.  Manchester passed law making it illegal to sleep in public sites.  Surrounding cities are concerned about incoming homeless population form this action.
  • Community Power – Rates 10-15% lower than Eversource (supply rates)
  • Downtown – PAC has been a success.  The Riverfront project is in progress.  Outdoor dining has seen 150K+ unique users via an AI tracking service to the outdoor seating areas in 2023.  The outdoor dining expires next year and will be up for discussion with the board of alderman. 
  • Other – Budget 3.7% increase.  McCarthy Middle School will open.  There are future events and City meetings being held on site.  The Mayor encouraged everyone to tour the facility if they have the opportunity.
