The Rotary Club of Nashua was chartered in 1921. As of October 2010, we have 107 active members and one honorary member. Each year we typically raise $80,000 - $100,000. These funds are raised through a Holiday Auction, Calendar Fundraiser, Christmas Tree Sales, Comedy Event, and also from our own Rotarians by "passing the hat". The money raised is given away each year to: Scholarships ($27,000), Grants ($25,000), International Projects ($10,000) and Community projects ($25,000).

The business of the club is conducted by an elected board of directors and about 45 committees. The committees are divided by focus: Club Service, Vocational Service, International Service and Community Service. Annual Rotary dues per Rotarian are $300.

One of the responsibilities of every Rotarian is meeting attendance. A member may be dismissed for insufficient meeting attendance. You must attend at least 80% of the scheduled meetings in a year. A minimum of 60% of your meetings must be made at your home club. A maximum of 40% of your meetings can be made up at other clubs. There are even on-line clubs where you can get "other club" attendance credit. Meeting dues are $16 and include a pretty good lunch. Meetings are fun. Meetings are real. Rotarians are doing it one-day-at-a-time just like you. You can find a mentor. You can be a mentor. You will make new friends and you will definitely share some laughs.

There is a minimum time commitment. You will be assigned to 3-4 committees. Committee duties vary (may take a few hours a month or may take more). The time you spend depends in-part on the committee, but more-so it depends on you. You will also be assigned to 2-3 Christmas Tree-selling shifts (you get some say in the days/times). Each shift is 4 hours. You may be asked to volunteer at other events; like helping at the annual fishing derby, or to deliver food, or to be an adult companion helping girls on a holiday shopping spree. There are so many ways you can make a difference. It is all voluntary. You won't regret it.

Rotary is also about friendship and fellowship. There are plenty of planned informal gatherings for Rotarians to meet and socialize at local restaurants, pubs, member businesses, and member homes. We also have a club rivalry with the Rotary Club of Nashua West. This culminates in a Softball game showdown and a spaghetti sauce competition/fundraiser. Two of our biggest fundraisers, Comedy Night and the Holiday Auction provide more opportunities for food and fun with friends and family. And who knows, you may win that dream vacation or a custom bike.
