Heidi convened the meeting at 6:01 pm with her granddaughter, Rosie, who seemed very excited at being with her grandmother and at the meeting. The other guest was Alyssa Clemson Roberts, President/CEO of NH Electric Co-op.

 

Heidi led the Pledge of Allegiance. Dan recited the prayer. Under Do You Know, Heidi described birds, their nests and offspring, concluding that it’s best to keep hands off the nest. Under announcements, Bonnie mentioned the cleanup scheduled for Saturday May 13^th from 9-12 to be followed by a party at Shep Brown’s from 12-3 and Rotary’s participation and support. A sign-up sheet was circulated. Jim McFarlin told a uniquely bad joke. Kevin mentioned the upcoming Lake Robotics and the world championship in Houston. The fishing derby meeting has yet to be scheduled. Dinner followed.

 

At 6:40 pm, Alyssa began her presentation regarding NH Electric Co-op. She noted that NH Electric was a member governed not for profit entity which was founded in 1939 as part of an FDR initiative to serve rural customers. The Co-op has around 250 employees serving 1/3 of New Hampshire, but no urban customers. She said that the Co-op has the lowest power supply rate in NH and mentioned the effects of deregulation. She mentioned the state grants and the good service provided to residential and business customers. Alyissa said, upon questioning, that nuclear could be part of the future, although small modular. There was an extended discussion regarding broadband, its completion (December, 2025) and access for the economically disadvantaged. Also, outages were discussed and the need to trim trees. Her presentation was thorough and well received, as was the back-and-forth dialogue.

 

Happy Dollars were offered by Tim (Heidi being a great grandmother), John Moulton (Spring), Carl Johnson (workplace), Paul Speltz (grandchildren), Dean (exchange program), Jim McFarlin (Bruins and Lake Robotics to Houston), Chuck Thorndike (vets and library memorial), Kevin (grandparent babysitting) and Alyssa (for the opportunity to present to Rotary).

 

The raffle drawing was held, and Tim led the 4-Way Test. The meeting adjourned at 7:24 pm.
