Announcements: Derby meeting tonight
Parade is Aug 11. Rotary float is based on the derby. Need volunteers to walk with it and to pretend to fish while riding on it. See Teresa if interested.
Brian: Day at the Park 7/14 at 10AM, meet at 9AM for warm-ups. 60-70 people signed up. Autographs from Muskrats, popcorn, food truck. Thanks the GMP for making t-shirts.
Bill Lee: the Science Center’s Summer Splash on 7/21 at 5:30PM $50 per person, open bar wine and beer. Annie and the Orphans playing.
Erin: Meredith Time Capsule will be opened July 4 at 2PM at the Chase House. Carl Johnson as emcee. Free ice cream social to follow sponsored by the Common Man. Slideshow of 1968 activities with music. Attendees of the 1968 events should meet at the library at 1PM for a photo op with the time capsule and to escort it to the Chase House. Reserved seating for 1968 attendees.
Brownie is transferring to her Rotary Club in Florida and gave us a banner from the club.
President Mike thanked everyone for the pleasure of serving as President this past year. He said that he had an amazing team backing him and that he was never alone. They made it easy for him and he had a lot of fun. He introduced our new President Betsey Donovan! As he parted, he gave one last fine to those who did not attend last week’s Rotary meeting at Bear Island.
Correspondence: Lakes Region Builder and Remodeling scholarship fund thanked the club for their donation. John Latesta (please check last name) thanked us for a scholarship.
Happy Dollars: Carl gave $100 to the Rotary Foundation for Mike’s work as President and for Betsey’s upcoming year. Bob K. for a trip to Foxwoods with his Dad and for his Dad being on WMUR this morning. Ginny for a trip to Egypt with her 95-year-old sister for her grandson’s graduation in front of the Sphinx. Ann for the trip to Bear Island last week. John M. for Jim M. borrowing his van and returning it in one piece and Jim M. for bring Archie to his permanent home in Meredith in the van. Erin for her grandson’s first birthday party. Ben for his canoe trip adventures. Fred for Mike and Betsey and for the perspective new member, for his trip to Kansas to get his mother-in-law and for our need for a membership chair now that he is derby co-chair. Randy for a trip with his daughter to Norway, Sweden and Russia. Jim for his 88th birthday. Jim W. gifting a very large gavel to Betsey to help her “persuade” more volunteers.
Newly minted President Bestey said that we will have two meetings per month over the summer. Starting in September back to regular meetings with two programs per month, one social night and one “floater” for business that might come up. PLEASE someone volunteer to be Membership Chair.
July 11 and 25, August 15 meet at Colony Club. August 29 at Grange. September 12 regular meetings start again at the Colony Club.
Pavilion update: with design team and should be ready by August 26. Permits are all set.
New chairs will get envelopes with names of members so they can start coordination. And did we mention we need a Membership Chair?
