Dean G. Thank you to all committee members. Gary D. coordinated food. Introduced (4) students going out. Nick Sullivan – going to Belgium, South of Brussels, 5 minute walk to tennis court and 3 minute walk to school. Arya – going to France, (4) host families. First does triathlon. ? - also going to France, her host brother is also in exchange. Maya – short term exchange, going to Italy this summer on border of France in Alps.
Dean turning meeting over to Rick G., Emmanuel’s Rotary Rep. He greatly enjoyed the year with him. Gave Emmanuel a gift thanking him for the opportunity. Emmanuel: Gave rotary of Meredith a banner from his France rotary club in CAEN. He first met the Hammel family (first host family). He did a bunch of fun things such as hiking, water skiing, and the best Christmas. He played soccer in the fall, he got to meet all the fellow exchange students in the district. Inter-lakes school was very different than the school he went to in France, like school buses, school spirit, and sports. In October, they did Meredith weekend with all the exchange students such as Squam Lakes Science Center, Rattlesnake, Sandwich Fair, etc. He loved fall in New Hampshire. Boston was next trip – got to see all different fun things in Boston – Bunker Hill, Blue Man Group. Winter in New Hampshire, he found the views beautiful, loved skiing, and joined the Nordic team and liked it a lot. Took 5th place in the final race. Next trip was to Okemo with fellow exchanges from around the Northeast. In January, he met the second host family, The Bergquist’s. He got to go hiking and to Washington D.C. He joined the lacrosse team in spring sports. He enjoyed it, but never got to play in a game. He went to NYC with rotary and got to see a lot of the city and in May his family came to visit from France. They went to NY City again and showed them New Hampshire’s Lake Region. He went to the prom later in May, with Alice, and enjoyed it. Finally the exchange students got together in Burlington, VT. He’s glad it’s summer – he will graduate this weekend and go to California in 10 days. He enjoyed this year a lot and feels like he has grown up a lot emotionally. Thank you to rotary.
