The Meeting Opened with the Pledge followed by prayer led by Fred.

Bonnie I. introduced tonight's guests: Jack Foster, Jim McFarlin's guest, and Claire Clark, a special guest speaker arranged by Gary Dehnel and Chris Ray, treasurer of Camp Resilience and Gilford Rotarian.

Gary D. shared inspiring pictures of Rotarians participating in and completing the Green Beret mission challenge, a testament to our collective strength and determination.

Announcements

Bonnie I . shared a social outing for next week at

Richard G. shared information on the Rotary International Fund and grants that were given back to the local community.

Gary D. also shared grants we've received from the Rotary International Fund.

Fred S. said we are getting $1,000 back paid towards the senior Christmas dinner this year.

Gary D. Trying to get spider webs out of the pavilion at Hesky Park needs volunteers to help clean up – need 8-foot ladders and stiff brushes.

Kevin K. shared a joke. We all got some good laughs!

 

Happy Dollars

  • Jim M. is happy about his tree removal and got a $1,000 donation for the kayak project,
  • Kevin K. is happy that his grandkids are coming with friends,
  • Jim M. is happy again with his radio experience.
  • Guest Jack F. is happy for his granddaughter's birthday.
  • Ron M. is happy to be alive!
  • Tim B. is happy for the weather change,
  • Guest speaker's Mom is happy to be here
  • Gary D. is sad due to the no wind today for sailing,
  • Guest Chris R. is sad for his club hitting a rock on a rental pontoon – then shared another dollar for the Olympics.

 

Program Presentation Event - Camp Resilience

 

Guest Speakers: Gary D. and Chris Ray

Snapping turtles: Camp Resilience held a Green Beret Challenge near Newfound Lake, and fellow Rotarians participated. Chris Ray shared that it is the camp's 10th anniversary and thanked the club for its constant support. He shared the camp's history and the demographics of the teams that come to the camp. Chris shared that the Meredith rotary team - The Snapping Turtles, did exceptionally well and raised the most money, coming in at $3,425.00, with Fred being the largest non-corporate donor. There have been 1,300 veterans and first responders who have gone through the program that Camp Resilience offers, a testament to the impact of our support. Guest Speaker: Claire Clark

She started by sharing background information on RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Academy). The kids came primarily from NH, VT, ME, and Quebec. The event Took place in Vermont.

First-day experience: introductory icebreakers, teamed, learned what Rotary is and the service above self way of thinking, participated in team challenges, took the true colors test, and encouraged members to decide which they are.

Second Day Experience: public speaking and body language, defined what a leader is within small groups, described what interact is.

Claire shared information about Rise Against Hunger: The mission is to end hunger by a set date. Ten thousand bags will be packaged, with six meals per bag containing veggies and rice. Claire and her group packaged these for two hours.

Meals were sent to the Philippines, South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Kenya.

Third Day Experience: motivational speaker and Q&A.

They did other things: a talent show, team cheers they had to come up with, swimming, the bridge project: a paint can full of sand where they needed to build support using tape and newspaper, and a pizza party.

Fred reminded the club that next week is the mini golf outing.

Finally, the Four-way test, a set of ethical guidelines that we as Rotarians adhere to, was recited, and the Meeting was adjourned.
