Our Meredith Rotary Club returned to Hart’s Turkey Farm Restaurant to begin our weekly winter meeting schedule.
President Wendy started the proceedings with the Pledge of Allegiance. Dan W led the gathering in prayer, and our evening’s guests were introduced: Kathleen Reichlen, Bentley Kaik, Anne Marie Petell, and Robert Maloney.

Program Speaker and Presentation
Bill Reichlen offered an expansive and highly informative presentation covering virtually all aspects of our Great Meredith Rotary Ice Fishing Derby! Bill discussed the duties of the Derby Chair and the activities Inside and Outside the trailer.
Duties inside the trailer include
- Ticket and Fishing license sales.
- Fish Check-in, which includes data entry, tags, and ticket/license verification, as well as weighing fish.
- Drawings handling daily & grand prize drawings, check printing, plus notification of drawing winners.
Duties outside the trailer include
- Outside Weigh Station: weigh & measure fish
- Complete unofficial fish tag with info about fisherman, lead, and Fish & Game Officer
- F&G Officer verifies species of fish
- Fish Board responsibilities
- Merchandise Sales activities
- Food Tent availability for Derby volunteers
Presenter Bill delved into extensive detail to introduce new Rotary members (and more than a few veterans) to the comprehensive inner workings that have made our Great Meredith Rotary Club Ice Fishing Derby a critical success and enduring community asset!

I had the pleasure of attending the Hanover NH Rotary Club meeting and exchanging Club banners before joining them for the Dartmouth-Princeton football game. I was the only one rooting for the Princeton Tigers!
