• John M. for seniors hanging around the bus and finding senior’s lost cell phone.  

Announcements
Carl requests the club for proper equipment for the track team. All schools must have automated timing mechanisms to participate in official track events.  Finish Links provides the best quality fully automated systems, and a bronze-level timer (one step up from the cheapest system) will work.  We will also need laptops to run the software.  Request not to exceed $10,000. Fred Strader/Heidi Kitchen motioned to allow a not-to-exceed amount of $10,000 for Carl to get this system for the track team.  The motion passed unanimously.

Gary Dehnel thanked John Moulton for allowing proceeds for the Corn Maze this Friday afternoon to go towards Interact.  There may be a rain date if the weather is bad on Friday.  

Harry reported on the Styrofoam recycling meeting with Troy Brown, Meredith's Town Manager. The town is doing a feasibility study on the DPW recycling area, which is taking priority over our recycling project.   We will be developing a Plan B.  Harry said, "Please send any suggestions."  Troy will be at our next meeting.  Pete K. suggested perhaps recycling shrink wrap.

Fred reported that the trail project work will be changed to another date due to bad weather on Saturday. He’ll email the volunteers.

Mike reported that we advertise for the Rotary Derby in Hawkeye magazine.  This year we will skip February. Advertise Nov-Jan only.  Systems are ready to go for online ticket sales.  Bruce says November 1 will be the start date for the online sale.  Nov. 1 is also the date to learn about the new Derby Website at our club meeting.  Mike gives Bill Golden a big High Five for all his behind-the-scenes work to push this through.

Betsey is trying to have the Christmas dinner at the elementary school in person on Dec. 3.  This will be determined by any COVID outbreaks; the backup site is a drive-through at Hart’s. Anna Lee is on board for ornaments.  John Moulton is good to donate jellies.  Hart’s is on board.  Please donate up to $10 gift cards to various places like Dunks, Amazon, and local businesses.  Seniors over 55 who are Meredith, Moultonborough, or Center Harbor residents will get a turkey dinner from Harts.  We have a raffle of gifts, which they love.  The limit is 300 people.  Santa and Mrs. Claus make appearances.

Program: Moultonborough Police Department
Paul introduced Chief Peter Bedee and Lt. Mark Cabot of Moultonborough Police.  The Chief gave us a brief autobiography of his many years of service to Moultonborough.  The department has lost eight officers in about a year.  Down to three officers by February of this year. They are now up to 8 officers with 3 more positions to fill.  Also, they need 1 part-time dispatcher.  They cover Moultonborough and mutual aid agreements with surrounding towns and sometimes in towns across the state to work details.  His main priority is to build the department back, rewrite its policies, and comply with the 114 criteria set by the state.

Mark had many years of experience on the job and retired in Florida.  He dealt with identity theft and drugs being sent by mail.  Don’t put the red flag up on your mailbox.  People will steal your mail and take your checks.  He has been in Moultonborough for a few months. He sold his house in Florida and loves the opportunity to be a small-town officer again.  Please don’t hesitate to reach out to him. Happy to meet and talk to you. He mentioned that people work very well together up here between towns and different organizations.

Moultonborough has a school resource officer, and he loves his position, but due to staffing challenges, he’s had to be pulled out of the school.  He hopes to return to the school by December, but they have very few juvenile issues to contend with.
