Rotary Bulletin

President Heidi opened the meeting at 6PM with the pledge and a prayer.
Guests and Visiting Rotarians: Nacho, Chelsea Lemke
Reminder: We will be meeting at Funspot’s Bowling Alley on March 8.
Chelsea Lemke a Clinical Peer Specialist and Director of Substance Use Services for Lakes Region Mental Health Center was our guest speaker and spoke about substance abuse. Fentanyl is in most drugs now and rates of death by overdose are up again this year after a slight drop in 2018/9. People are using meth as a “safer” alternative as it doesn’t usually contain fentanyl.
Partnership for Public Health campaigns for treatment and prevention. “The Doorway” opens a door to anyone looking for treatment or help for a family member to get the information that they need. Dial 211. The Doorway is staffed by recovery coaches. You can meet with a clinician over the phone or in person. They can help with transportation. They liaison with DCYF.
For a rapid response, dial 833-710-6477 as it’s more direct. But 211 will work as well.
Some answers to questions asked by those in attendance:
- In patient residential treatment programs are difficult to find in NH. There are not enough beds.
- There are several teams state-wide for rapid response from all over the state. 5-6 clinicians and 8-9 peers for Belknap County and Lower Grafton County.
- They can come and speak at a work place or other setting for those dealing with suicide of a peer.
- There are recovery friendly workplaces. They will assist employers who want to help an employee in recovery.
- Prevention is targeted at adolescents.Worst places in the state for O.D. are Manchester, Nashua and the Lakes Region.
- Ages for response range from 18-70.
