Meredith Rotary Club
April 1, 2024, Special Rotary Meeting

Prepared by Brian, Dan, and Maybe even Bonnie

Welcome
The meeting was called to order today at our new permanent meeting time of 4:00 am. Although a bit early for some, we enjoy our regular Rotary blueberry muffins. Attendance was a bit low today, so please remember to get some extra sleep on Sunday nights from now on.

Guests and Program
You may have noticed our sergeant at arms was supplemented with some extra security tonight as we were treated to a hat trick of three important guests—President Joe Biden, Former President Donald Trump, and Former UN Ambassador Nikki Haley—for the first of its kind Meredith Presidential Debate. We know New Hampshire is big on firsts, and on this April 1st, we heard some vigorous discussion.  Our debate rules prohibited anything political, so topics included favorite desserts (ice cream, key lime pie, and pecan pie) with enthusiastic support for rainbows and unicorns.

Announcements, Happy Dollars and 50/50
The Derby Committee announced that fish caught in Canada and Antarctica will now be accepted in response to recent ice challenges.

The Major Projects Committee says the next project is to build vagrant housing for all Canadian Geese around the lakefront. An idea was suggested: we spray the droppings Orange to resemble Cheez-It Cheese Puffs.

The Town of Meredith is looking for solutions to its tax situation, so the Board announced that Happy Dollar minimum contributions must now be multiples of $1000, and the Town will receive both halves of each 50/50 raffle.

For the next two meetings, we will launch a pilot program in which members can bring children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, or household pets as part of their Happy Dollar presentations.

Adjournment
Finally, the four-way test has been modified with 38 additional tests, making it the new 42-way test. Although reciting takes a little longer, all agreed the higher bar is a positive step forward.

Happy April Fools Day!
