Erin introduced Nicole McKenzie from US Federal Census 2020
Goal is to count every person living in the US. Important. Safe and easy.
Important because it drives 675 billion in annual distribution based on census data
Some folks don’t trust the government. We can’t share the information with any other agencies.
Census workers take an oath to not share the information for life. Fine 5 years in jail and up to $250,000 as federal crime. Will not ask for SSN’s, donations, money, bank account numbers.
Online and telephone. First mailing goes out March 12. Not questionnaire. Invitation to respond online or call in. Saves money on printing questionnaires. Will send invite 2 to 3 times. Fourth mailing will be the paper questionnaire. After that, census takers will be sent to knock on your door. Nine questions.
Code on postcard is tied to an address. Once it’s been done, can’t be done again.
Census is from March 12 – end of summer. Where you live as of April 1. Report due December 31, 2020.
Recruiting 13,000 in NH. 18 or over. No exp necessary. $20.00 to start. .57 per mile. Very flexible. Tell us when you can work. Which days and how many hours. Get the word out.
Remember 9 questions coming in the mail shapes the future of funding.
