President Wendy opened the meeting at 6pm with the Pledge and “Rev.” Dan provided the prayer. Visitors were prospective new member, Lexi Demetriou, and our speaker, Dan Curnyn.
Announcements
- Dean – Youth Exchange meeting tonight
- Harry – March 16th will be the first styrofoam collection at the Meredith solid waste facility. We need volunteers to assist that day. A signup sheet was passed around.
- Jim McFarlin introduced Lexi Demetriou (pictured on the right below) and inducted her into Meredith Rotary to the applause of the club members present. Please introduce yourself to Lexi at the next meeting.
- Jim also reminded everyone of the upcoming School Board meeting on March 6th and Meredith Town meeting on March 13th .
- Bonnie Ireland – the planned ski day for Thursday was delayed due to the weather. If you are interested in skiing Friday, let her know.
- Wendy provided an update from the last Board meeting. The Board approved a donation of $1,600 to buy 2 ice rescue suits for the Fire Department.

Program Speaker - Prescott Park Dugout Project
Dan Curnyn, ILS Varsity Baseball Coach, Cal Ripken President, 21+ Men’s Baseball League President and ILS Boy’s Varsity Soccer Coach (Whew, that’s a lot of stuff, Dan!).
Dan presented the planned project to update and expand the home dugout at Prescott Park. The project will add a 2nd story and storage and reorganize the layout of the dugout below for better viewing by players on the bench. The second floor will allow for a classroom for film studies, a club lounge area, and press box. The update will also allow
for recognition of past teams and players.
This project has been in planning for some time and Dan would now like to get it done, preferably completing by late April/early May. He estimates that the cost will be approximately $15,000 for materials and he has some volunteer help to build it. He would humbly appreciate any assistance Rotary could provide, both financial help and volunteer labor. He currently has $4,100 in donations and pledges so far.
The presentation was well received, Carl reminding the group that the club built the original dugout in 2003. We agreed to submit the request to the Board and also suggested he add re-shingling the visitor dugout to the list, as it is needed. Several other avenues for donations, including the GMP and ILS alumni were also suggested to him.
The meeting adjourned after the 4-way test at 7:01.
