Meeting Open
President Wendy called the meeting to order exactly at 6 PM with our favorite bell at our summer residence: the air-conditioned Meredith Bay Colony Club (MBCC). It is a welcome treat escaping the outside, where the mercury reached 92 degrees. The pledge of allegiance followed.
In his prayer, Dan encouraged us to see the world as a place to cultivate our spirit.

Announcements
Dean announced there is a Student Exchange Committee meeting tonight.
Gary and Ron presented a trip report and pictures from the non-major projects team about their repair work at Stonedam Island with LRCC. Up next is fixing the downtown Center Harbor cemetery fence and gate this Fall before the weather gets cold. All this work is being done with donations at no cost to the Club.
Fred provided an update on Major Project's next steps on the Page Pond Trail planned for Saturday, October 14, and October 21 for the two phases—putting in the concrete piers and then building. Volunteers are wanted, especially for October 21, with a sign-up sheet to be distributed at our next meeting.
Our next meetings are on September 20, October 4, and October 11 at MBCC.
On October 18, we resume weekly at Hart’s
Tonight, we dined on fabulous sandwiches from Moulton Farms.
Program
Today featured a Special Rotary Program arranged by John Moulton featuring the Lakes Region Tourism Association. Our special speaker was Amy Landers, who has been the Executive Director for 24 years and is an UNH graduate. She and her small but mighty staff promote the Lakes Region domestically and internationally year-round in eight travel shows, direct mail, print advertising, social media, newsletters, etc. There are 450 members, many small businesses who count on the non-profit Association to get their messages out and fund the team’s work.
Retail and inside dining are up this year. Lodging is “all over the board.” 55+ are major spenders. Staffing and housing are continual headwinds. Airfare, gas prices, and crowding are also challenges.
Amy guaranteed beautiful Fall colors this year! She is also open to publicizing Rotary events as our partner.
Happy Dollars
- Dean had his grandkids with him for a trip to NY and Michigan to see many longtime friends and a family wedding.
- Fred also went to Michigan to see a new granddaughter, then flew to Kansas to see his 96-year-old mother-in-law.
- John had the first pumpkins of the season arrive
- Craig had a family visit with a request for a new car
- John welcomed us to the MBCC
- Dan was happy to be closest to the food
- Jim announced he is retiring from 36 years in the technology field
President Wendy led us in the 4-way test. The meeting adjourned at 7:15 PM.
