HAPPY DOLLARS

Ice Fishing Derby Chairman Dave Reid was pleased to announce that all systems are go for a successful Derby! Dick and Carole Gerken enjoyed a special weekend in NYC, highlighted by their attendance at the Ivy League Football Awards Dinner. A former Cornell football star, Dick was pleased to exchange pleasantries with Kevin Kelly's son, fellow defensive lineman Peter Kelly, Princeton '05. Mr Gerken also raved about the professional quality of the ETC/Plymouth State University performance of The Little Mermaid. Carl shared Dick's enthusiasm with
a stellar review of the performance and should be very proud of another terrific performance by his son Tim. Kevin Kelly thanked the Gerkens for an invite to the show and agreed with Dick and Carl's reviews. Bob K. participated in a Columbia University alumni interview with a local high school prospect. Jim and Pat McFarlin thoroughly enjoyed a Comedy Night performance, tickets courtesy of Mr Kennelly. The amazing Chuck Thorndike  shared a story about an 89 year old skiing buddy Paul who unfortunately took a header while racing! Paul received a few stitches before returning to the action!

PROGRAM

Fellow-Rotarian Rob Wichland, owner/broker at REMAX Bayside, gave a terrific overview of the New Hampshire real estate market.  Most interesting were the insights offered about the various driving forces in our Lakes Region housing market. The presentation took everybody back to school with statistics galore pertaining to median housing pricing, amounts paid versus the asking prices, and the impact of available inventory.
With a state-wide median price hovering around $255,000, I believe the audience was very pleased to hear Rob report that currently 99% of the seller's asking price was being paid! This listener walked away sensing that our region's biggest challenge has been a significance inventory shortage. As a result, available homes have been 'flying off the shelf' with a short number of days on the market.
Rob's encyclopedic knowledge about our region's real estate business/forecasts was much appreciated by all in attendance.  Thanks Rob!
