Welcomed Guests: Dave Picarillo, Bruce Walton

After the opening Pledge of Allegiance, Richard Gerken offered a heartfelt prayer for departed friends and fellow Rotarians Bob Davis and Bernie Nealon. Law Enforcement Expert Craig Wiggin assisted Kevin Kelly with a well-delivered punchline.

Announcements:
The evening was overshadowed by the sad news regarding Bob and Bernie. Bob Davis’s service was very well attended by family and friends. In addition to loving testimony from his family, very touching eulogies were offered by friends Mark Billings and Ed Touhey.

Bernie’s service is scheduled for June 3rd at St Charles, followed by a celebration of life at Church’s Landing. Sad Dollars were offered by an array of members remembering two great men and Rotarians.

Program

The owners of Meredith’s new microbrewery, Twin Barns Brewing Company, brought our Meredith Rotarians up to speed about their exciting plans!
Formed in June, 2018, The Twin Barns Brewery Co. plans to brew and serve excellent handcrafted beer in the Lakes Region.
Co-founded by 20+ year friends Dave Picarillo and Bruce Walton, who, when traveling always made a point of checking out local breweries. After leaving an executive position with a large food and beverage operation, Mr Picarillo decided to join forces with Mr Walton to go into the brewing business. Apparently there are many nano-breweries, defined as a business that produces less than 2000 barrels per year, but there aren’t any microbreweries, which can brew up to 15,000 barrels, located between Tilton and Plymouth. Well, that’s until now!
Dave and Bruce found and fell in love with 2 barns on Rte 3 in Meredith, which were the former homes to the American Police Motorcycle Museum and Burlwood Antiques Center. As a Lakes Region resident, Dave certainly knows that Meredith is fantastic as both a popular summer and winter destination!
The food service will focus on ‘things that go well with beer’! Twin Barns plans to be a brewery with food rather than a restaurant with beer.
The Meredith Rotary wishes them the best of luck!
