President Fred called the meeting to order at 6 pm at our new/old home, Harts. The pledge of allegiance followed.

Fred offered a slightly different invocation tonight. Gary noted that this week was Veterans Day. He played a very moving music video describing how lucky we are to be free and living in America. Our veterans deserve special recognition.
Dean also mentioned Will Williams, who was in the Navy.
Announcements
The scholarship meeting is after the regular meeting.
A couple of people volunteered to be assistant secretary. Please let Fred know if you’re interested in being an officer—either Secretary, Membership, Vice President-Elect, or Board. Note that the vice president-elect is a four-year commitment to the vice president, President, and then Past President.
We are now low on available money for donations until the Fishing Derby refreshes our capacity if there is a significant donation request, that will likely be deferred.
Bruce announced that Tom Fairbrother’s cancer has returned; we are thinking of him.
Wendy has a signup sheet for the senior dinner on Sunday, December 8. She is still looking for gift cards.
Our exchange student is looking for a winter ski jacket and ski pants. Let Dean know if you have something for her.
Lexi has sent the first Derby email blast out.
Upcoming Program Schedule
December 18 is our annual Rotary Club holiday party. For something different this year, it will not be at Harts. Bill has generously offered to have dinner at his wonderful home and provide his chef's cuisine. The cost will be $30 per person, including drinks. We will still have the gift exchange/Yankee swap; more information will follow.

- Dean has no cast on his hand, and his thumb is working again. He spent the last couple of weeks on vacation with kids, and he’s a year older today.
- John is thankful for his kids and grandchildren.
- Bob is going to Mohegan Sun for a concert and is looking forward to the Giant's win

- Jim M has two guests: an 18 and an 18+ year old.

- Kevin joined his son in Florida and heard he bought a home healthcare company.

- Gary noted that Socktober is over, and Rotary gave over 700 pairs of socks and 3700 pairs of socks in total.
- Bruce is happy that the Derby site is up and running; 104 tickets have already been sold, with 30 within the first hour, and he’s retiring in May.
- Chuck announced that snow is appearing at Bretton Woods, and ski season will be here soon.
Dean won the 50/50.
Special Rotary Program from Gary re Rotary Foundation
November is Rotary Foundation month. Did you know? Created in 1917 with $26.50, 1929 first grant. Seven focus areas include peace, disease, water, health, education, community, and environment.
Supported primarily with donations from Rotarians -- $300M donated last year towards the current endowment of $6B across the various funds. It’s rated four stars by Charity Navigator (top score).
The annual Fund goes toward local and global causes supported by individual giving. Paul Harris is awarded for $1000 level, major donor at the $10K level. There is a report at the Club and Individual level. You can check your recognition points.
The Endowment Fund is for the program's long-term viability, usually funded by gifts and wills/estates.
Other funds fund the World Fund for global humanitarian projects, scholarships, vocational training, disaster response, and peace fellowships.
District Designated Funds are for local use and funded by the Annual Fund. Please consider giving. If you’re interested, contact Gary or Fred.
Polio is a separate fund that started in 1979 in the Philippines. It has received total contributions of $2.2B. The Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation has a matching program in place. Polio cases have been reduced by 99.9% worldwide.
