President Kevin opened the ZOOM meeting with the Pledge. Richard led us in prayer.
Gary reported that the Global Grant checks have arrived. The fire departments of Meredith, Center Harbor, and Sandwich and Moultonborough will benefit with specialized safety cleaning equipment valued up to $10,000 each. (Unfortunately, Moultonborough’s amount will be limited by local ordinance to $1,000.)
The Interact Club, holding Sunday night ZOOM meetings, is making plans for Socktober.
Socks will be collected at the schools and bins will be located strategically elsewhere. Over 500 masks secured by our President Kevin were distributed by the students to the schools in Meredith, Moultonborough and Sandwich. Interact will remember our veterans in November with greeting cards. No corn maze this year! The bob house raffle is in question.
Fred reported on the upcoming testing of the new derby software. Initial trials have gone well. A group of volunteers is scheduled to process a “mock derby” through the system from ‘registration to awards’ this weekend.
Teresa reported that the Christmas Senior Dinner is “a go”! The committee has met. It will be a drive through at Hart’s. Some meals will likely need to be delivered. Numbers could exceed previous years. All the usual donors are lining up. Gift bags will be distributed. Some will have gift cards! Some will have restaurant certificates! This will depend on the generosity of Rotarians and local establishments. Santa and Mrs. Claus will be on site!
President Kevin would like our meetings to go ‘hybrid’ asap! Locations being researched include: St. Charles, Masonic Facility at Holderness town line, the Community Center (to be open to non-profits soon). Please submit any suggestions you might have. Congratulations to Tiffany. She announced her engagement and displayed her “rock”. On a much lower note but with great enthusiasm, she spoke about Northern NH United Way’s SMART START CEREAL DRIVE. Happy Events… Bob has welcomed his fifth grandchild… Richard announced that wife Carol’s niece was married at Waterville Valley that hey entertained a host of family from Indiana… Steve Capachietti is much relieved having passed (no surgery!) kidney stones… President Kevin announced his 18th surgery will take place in November and is pleased that his son is doing well in his business venture… Jim McFarlin thanked Steve for weekly drone shots of the library project as it progresses… John King dined outside in downtown NYC and will leave shortly for is grandchild’s Christening in Baltimore… Heidi announced that LRSO had been performing outside at Mill Falls… Erin announced three library programs scheduled: young people’s story walk at Swazy Park, school supplies for those who need them curbside or in the library and a ZOOM program on October 20 at 4 PM that will answer the question: What do I do with my DNA results after I receive them?
