Richard Gerken led us in prayer remembering Helen Robinson, Rotarian Rick Goodby who is recovering from surgery and all who find themselves in troubles way.

 

President Craig thanked all those Rotarians who contributed to the Australia Relief Effort.  District 7870 rose over $14,000.

was led by Treasurer Dick Pendergast who summarized the club’s finances and explained how the books are kept.  His monthly report to the Board of Directors for January shows approximately $225,000 in the reserve account. This amount is pretty constant. Current assets total approximately $240,000.  Working cash is held in a general fund which is augmented with funds from the reserve account rarely but when necessary.  Operating funds and donations to worthy causes come from this account.  Our FY ends on June 30 each year.  An annual budget sets aside funds for all anticipated expenses such as operating expenses, scholarships, the Senior Christmas Dinner, program presenters meals, support for Interact, etc.  “How much money can we spend”?  This all depends on what remains after we have funded all of our commitments.  Fishing Derby funds (including $30,000 start-up) are kept in a separate account.  This is our biggest fundraiser and in recent years has returned over $100,000 annually to the general fund. 

It is sums like these that make it possible for Rotary to undertake major projects such as the pavilion, dugouts, boardwalks, recreation building repairs and island building reconstruction for the Lakes Region Conservation Trust.

Discussion followed seeking ideas for our next major project.  Investigation is already underway regarding needed improvements to the Center Harbor Gazebo.
