President Heidi led us in the Pledge of Allegiance.  Dan Whitney led us in prayer reminding us of our gift of WISDOM and our responsibility to safeguard our health as we are ‘Temples of the Human Spirit”.

 

Heidi’s thought to ponder:  “Lions get a bad rap!  They are far from lazy!  Male lions hunt too.  They spend much of their time cleaning vegetative overgrowth from the forest floor.”

 

- Home and Garden Show sponsored by the Alton Lions April 22…  They are seeking volunteer help.

- Bonnie reminded us the Lake Winnipesaukee Clean-up day is May 13.  This is a combined community project of volunteer groups all around the Big Lake.  There will be more information forthcoming.

- In support of the Veterans Memorial at the Meredith Library, Humble Grunt Work,

- Friday is the deadline for scholarship applications.  Numbers appear to be down this year.

 

Dan introduced our presenters from the Winnipesaukee Wellness Center on Route 25 in Moultonborough.  They are seeking funds to rebuild their center.  WWC was first established in 2002 as a division of LRGH until it became Concord Hospital, Laconia and they lost their funding.  It is now a non-profit created by many of those who relied so heavily on the services once provided.  Today it is a full size athletic facility open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 7 to 4.    They take pride in being non-judgmental and welcoming everyone seeking good health and wellness no matter their age or physical condition.  Key staff members are CPR and ADD certified.  Currently those enrolled range in age from 51 to 91 years in age.  Some use the facility as a follow-up to cardiac rehab. All seek FITNESS, FUN and FRIENDSHIP!

 

In a very few months the WWC will be open 24/7 by implementing a keyless entry system. Membership is $50 per month for an individual and $80 a month for a couple.

 

Richard had a great time in Florida; Gary just returned from the West Coast; Jim thanked Heidi for eagerly gathering approval from the Board for a $1,200 donation to the ILHS Lakerbots (robotics) team which has qualified for international competition in Houston.  GO LAKERS!
