President Craig opened the meeting at 6:01 PM

Guest Speaker:  Past District Governor and current District Foundation Chair Rick Maganello.

The Pledge of Allegiance was recited and Reverend Eaton led us in prayer.

Announcements: 

 

The Senior Christmas Dinner will be held on December 8.  A sign-up sheet was distributed.  Raffle items are need.  Suggestions included gift cards from Hannafords and Dunkin and  local restaurants.  Betsy will share some organizational changes at our meeting on December 4.

Fishing Derby:  Donna announced some 200 tickets have been sold.  Shelby will return to direct the children’s program.

 

 

Fines:  Carl fined everyone NOT wearing a hat!  Fitz was the only one who didn’t have to pay up!  (“Is it Fair; Is it….???)

 

Happy Dollars:  Jim recommended everyone see the new release “Ford vs. Ferrari”; Ed thanked Tom Fairbrother for a job well done; Fred welcomed our candidates for membership; Guest Speaker Rick praised our own Reverend Eaton; Gary is taking four on-line courses concurrently; Ray visited Vern and reported he is doing well and will be transferred to Golden View soon to fully recover from his surgery; Richard praised Cornell’s gridiron victory over Columbia;  Bob noted other football wins by Columbia and his and his Dad’s visit to (where else but) Foxwoods; Carl announced Elliott’s 26^th birthday; it took Ginny 30 hours to fly home from Nuremburg (It was suggested she try swimming next time.); and Richard had no such bad luck flying home from Europe.

 

Guest Speaker Rick, District Foundation Chair, traced his “almost” lifelong experiences in Rotary.  He praised Meredith Rotary for its many successful Fishing Derbies and $164,000 in donations to the Rotary Foundation.  Rick entered Rotary in Nashua.  He enjoys the friendships he made; the projects they have completed and the countless opportunities Rotary membership has provided him with.  He urged everyone to become a Paul Harris Fellow; to nominate a worthy student for a Rotary Peace Fellowship; to participate in District Projects; to attend an International Conference and to go on a mission to a Third World country.  He spoke highly of the Rotary Mobile Grant Program at the Foundation and District levels.  He urged our involvement individually and collectively noting the great impact such involvement has had on him as an individual and on 2.2 million people around the world.  Rick passed out a flier describing the ways you can give and the ways you/we can get through Rotary Foundation.
