Meeting was called to order at 6:00PM and President Wendy led us in the pledge. Fred Strader led us in prayer via Text Message from Dan Whitney. There were no guests or visiting Rotarians.
Announcements
Harry thanked everyone who dropped off Styrofoam for recycling. He will drop it all off at Gilford. The committee is negotiating with the Town of Meredith on Styrofoam drop dates. The committee would like to see it done quarterly. Right now there is only one date which is March 16. Lebanon leads the state in Styrofoam recycling and Harry met with the president of Lebanon’s Rotary Club to find out how it’s done. They ask for donations to help cover expenses. More updates to follow. Kevin said that his brother-in-law is the past president of the Lebanon Club and may also be a good connection for info on the project.
Fred let us know that we need new members. Please ask friends and associates to attend a meeting and see what we are all about. Now is a good time as excitement builds for the Derby. Fitz suggested that we welcome all guests and make a strong effort to show them all the good that we do for the community so that they will spread the word to others and make them want to join us
Wendy said that we had several thank you notes from those who attended the Senior Dinner.
Happy Dollars
Bob K. reported that he and his other half have signed up for the NYC Five Burroughs Bike Ride which is forty miles and was very happy that his friend fixed his snow blower before that last storm!
Dean gave a shout out to Tiffany for modernizing the Rotary Youth Exchange Website and bringing them into the 21st century complete with a QR Code!
Erin and Bill K. were happy that Bentley was the only student who received a perfect score on his Math Meet Test. Bill also thanked Rotary for their contribution to the Robotics Team. He will be busy setting up the arena for the next challenge this weekend.
Bonnie I. was "so happy" that it snowed because all of that shoveling is keeping her in shape.
Jim M. said if they need a new membership chair he is not above using bribery to get new members! Also, he was happy for the new snow so that his only granddaughter could finally use the toddler sled she received from him and Pat for Christmas.
Fred went skiing and was happy he didn’t die. Also for the VIP Rotary discounts and for the outstanding service he received at the front counter.
Craig was happy he and his wife went to Florida for three weeks for a lovely Green Christmas.
And finally John M. had a Christmas party at Hart’s for his amazing staff of sixty. Such a great team! And...he’s happy that Bonnie is happy.
Program
Erin A. led us in a rousing evening of Library Trivia. After several competitive rounds,
“Teddy’s Terrors” toppled the “Bulldogs” in the Final Round to win the glorious prize package of Meredith Library SWAG and Valentine’s Day chocolates.
50/50
Someone won but I couldn’t see who it was. But there was a lot of cheering and excitement!
