The Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who contribute, or who have contributions made in their name, of $1,000 to The Rotary Foundation.
Rotary established the recognition in 1957 to encourage and show appreciation for substantial contributions to what was then the Foundation’s only program, Rotary Foundation Fellowships for Advanced Study, the precursor to Ambassadorial Scholarships. Rotarians have a tradition of supporting the Foundation by honoring others.
Today, Past Club President Kevin Kelly presented the Paul Harris Fellow recognition to two longtime members of the Meredith Rotary Club, Carl Johnson and Dick Pendergast.
Carl Johnson was recognized for 34 years of dedicated service. His commitment to community reflects a deep family legacy, including his father’s conservation work connected to Johnson Bay, which was named in his honor. Carl has also been involved with the Loon Preservation Society and numerous other community organizations.
Dick Pendergast was recognized for 28 years of service to the club, including 26 years as club treasurer. His generosity, dedication, and steady commitment to improving people’s lives have made a lasting impact on our club and community.
We are grateful to Carl and Dick for their many years of service and for the example they continue to set through Rotary.
