Emily was born in Toronto and moved to Hamilton when she was 9 years old. Her dad was a jazz music and composition teacher at Mohawk College, which is what brought them to the city. She grew up around Queen & Aberdeen area and went to Westdale Secondary School. Following that, Emily took Recreation Leadership, specifically Therapeutic Recreation at Mohawk College. Upon graduating, she started working for the Ministry of Health and Long Term Care for 14+ years as a 911 Ambulance Communications Officer/Dispatcher. When she decided she was ready for a change and a new challenge, she joined the Hamilton Fire Department, to work in the Communications department. She transferred to the Fire Prevention division in 2018 and became a qualified Fire Inspector for the Ontario Fire College and other local education centers. She loves interacting with and educating the public on fire safety as part of the Fire department.
