During the week before Christmas, Santa's helpers in the Brattleboro Rotary Club delivered a small gift to each resident of the area's nursing homes and residential care facilities, continuing the club's 25-year tradition.

Since 1986, the Brattleboro Rotary Club's "Gifts for Seniors" program has made sure that senior citizens living in Thompson House, Pine Heights, Vernon Green, Hilltop House, and Holton Home are not forgotten in this season of giving. Pictured here during one of their deliveries are (left to right) Rotarians Karen Thomas Cedergren and Betsy Gentile with Vernon Green Director M. Bradford Ellis.

According to Cedergren, Brattleboro Rotary Club members donated close to $900 just by passing the hat at several meetings, enabling the club to provide more than 300 gifts. Rotarians and other volunteers wrapped the gifts and delivered them in time for Christmas.

Gifts include such items as Christmas jewelry, calendars, polar fleece lap robes, large print crossword puzzles, and chocolates. Plus, festive candies were provided to about 115 Meals-on-Wheels participants.
