A Community College of Vermont (CCV) student has been chosen by the Brattleboro Rotary Club Gateway Foundation to receive a $2,500 medical assisting scholarship.

NOTE: Due to snow storm, the event is being rescheduled.

Amy Aldridge of Athens, Vermont, has been selected as the first recipient of the Jesse M. Corum IV Scholarship. Aldridge will receive the award at a presentation ceremony to be held at 1:30 p.m. on January 27 at CCV’s Brattleboro Center, 41 Harmony Place, Brattleboro, VT.

The Brattleboro Rotary Club Gateway Foundation established the scholarship in September of 2014 to honor long-time Brattleboro Rotarian, Jesse Corum.

Corum, who died in June 2014 of pancreatic cancer, was an active Rotarian for 27 years, during which time he was particularly committed to serving the Brattleboro community.

“We are happy to award a scholarship in memory and in honor of Jesse Corum, someone deeply committed to his community,” said CCV Brattleboro Executive Director Tapp Barnhill. “We are equally happy that these funds will go to support Amy’s goal of finishing her degree in Medical Assisting and then working and giving back locally. Our thanks to the Brattleboro Rotary for sponsoring such a win-win opportunity for our community.”
