For more than 30 years, Rotary and their partners have driven the effort to eradicate polio worldwide.  It’s first initiative was to tackle eradication by vaccinating children on a massive scale.  Rotary members have contributed more than $2.1 billion and countless volunteer hours to protect more than 2.5 billion children in 122 countries from this paralyzing disease.

Today, because of Rotary and its partners’ efforts, nearly 1.5 million people are alive who would otherwise have died.  Today, Rotary has reduce polio cases by 99.9%, and only Afghanistan and Pakistan report cases of the wild poliovirus.  Today, Rotary’s efforts have allowed 19 million people who would be paralyzed to have the ability to walk.

10 Rotarians went biking for 20 kms along the North Service Road between Grimsby and Vineland as a fundraiser titled PEDAL FOR POLIO on October 24th.  With a support team of 2 spotters they collected funds for polio eradication.
