Summary of 30 Years of Achievements
(to 19 February, 2013)
     The club can be proud of its 30 years of service to the local and international communities and look back on many 'milestones' including:
  • Establishing our daughter club - Eastwood 
  • Substantial contributions to Australian Health Research 
  • Continuous contributions to The Rotary Foundation (TRF) 
  • Established a Charitable Trust to support underprivileged youth 
  • Established the Hyde Park Singers - a group who perform at special events 
  • Own a BBQ Trailer enabling the club to cater for special events 
  • Assisted in setting up a Men's Shed at Clarence Park 
  • Ran "Toys-For-Joy" toy collection programs at Christmas for distribution to underprivileged children 
  • Conducted a number of Lone Parents picnics 
  • Assisted collections for the Salvation Army Appeals in our area
  • Organising a Youth Employment Learning Project (YELP) for schools in our area
  • Sponsoring Clean Water & Sanitation Projects in developing countries 
  • Major contributions over countless years to world polio eradication (Polio Plus) 
  • Sponsoring  outbound and hosting inbound international Student Exchange (LTSE) students
  • Hosting international Group Study Exchange (GSE) teams
  • Sending Rotary Australia World Community Service (RAWCS) teams to international aid projects in PNG, Solomon Islands & Tanzania 
  • Organising periodic venues for Men's Health Awareness (Pit-Stop) 
  • Organising Mental Health Awareness community forums 
  • Sponsoring students to National Youth Science Forums (NYSF) 
  • Sponsoring Youth Drug Awareness programs 
  • Sponsoring and hosting students to New Zealand for Short Term Student Exchange (STSE) 
  • Sponsoring Rotary Youth Driver Awareness (RYDA) programs 
  • Sponsoring students to Rotary Youth Wellbeing (RYWELL) programs
  • Establishing and supporting successful Business Networking Breakfasts with the Unley Council
  • Sponsoring Youth Opportunities projects
  • Sponsoring students at the School of St Jude, Arusha, Tanzania 
  • Sponsoring Indigenous Medical Scholars (IMSS) for further medical education
  • Propagating and planting out seedlings for Trees for Life environmental projects 
  • Contributing to a bus for Julia Farr 
  • Community Garden clean-ups 
  • Organising Mental Health First Aid Course 
  • EDS-IT Careers Forums
  • Organising and sponsoring awardees to Rotary Youth Leadership Awards (RYLA) week-long training seminars 
  • Organising and sponsoring awardees to Rotary Youth Program of Enrichment (RYPEN) seminars
  • Contributing to emergency response funds for global and national disasters 
  • Organising mock Work Interviews for school students 
  • Sponsoring the first Rotary Peace Scholar from SA to study in Thailand
  • Assisting with the Science and Engineering Challenge for year 10 students.
     and many, many, many more worthy activities. There is no doubt that the Rotary Club of Hyde Park is one of the stronger clubs in our district with a vision to look outside its immediate community. A proud yet humble tradition of worthy commitment.
