An early, rainy Saturday, March 17 couldn’t dampen the spirits of Rotarians and other volunteers celebrating District 5280’s Rotary Day of Service.  After gathering at the Frank Lanterman High School near downtown LA for breakfast and an inspirational presentation on the LA USD Homeless Education Program, we donned our bright green t-shirts and split into groups for our service projects.

RCDTLA member Kathleen Copus joined with others from the Hollywood, LA5, Latinos Unidos, Lawndale, and Rio Hondo Rotary Clubs at the Salvation Army’s Red Shield Youth and Community Center to help kids age 5 – 13+ with arts and crafts and reading.  What a great facility, and super kids!  We delivered heaps of art supplies and left with even more wonderful memories of SERVICE BEYOND SELF and old-fashioned fellowship.  Thanks to Veronica Martinez, DG Brad Robinson, and all the other folks who helped make this event happen.
