Come join our meeting August 17 (Thursday) at the Los Angeles Athletic Club where our speaker will be Eleanor Vogelsang, Community Relations Manager for the Close Up Foundation, joined by students from Camino Nuevo Charter Academy who participated in the foundation's program in Washington DC this spring.

The 2016 general election season served as a reminder of the importance of voting and civic engagement. Youth voting trends and research studies demonstrate the ongoing challenge of engaging 18-29 year olds in the democratic process. This presentation provides context around the importance of civic education, and the work the Close Up Foundation does with youth from across the country to prepare and motivate the next generation of leaders. Additionally, you will hear from spring 2017 participants from Camino Nuevo – a local school whose Close Up trip was supported by a donation from the Rotary Club of Downtown Los Angeles.

Join us for happy hour/dinner at the 3F Invention Bar, followed by our meeting at 6:45pm.  **Please note earlier start time this week**

Guests and visiting Rotarians welcome!

RSVP to William at william.baxley@rotarydtla.org.
