Downtown PRO now accepting donations!

PRO (People Reaching Out) was founded and is operated by Downtown residents for the purpose of collecting and distributing quality pre-owned and new professional clothing to area homeless shelters and assistance providers including Chrysalis and the Weingart Center. Downtown PRO will be accepting clothing donations through this Friday, December 18.

A friend of RCLAM, Peter Davis is one of the co-founders of Downtown PRO, now in its third year. Peter explains Downtown PRO this way: "PRO is a nonprofit I started three years ago that collects and distributes quality, new and pre-owned professional 'interview' clothing to Downtown job-training service providers that work with the homeless, including Chrysalis and the Weingart Center. Your donated clothing will be worn by men and women seeking and/or maintaining employment in the greater LA area." He also notes that "the number of clients coming to [Chrysalis] for services is up 40% in 2009 over last year. The economy is really hitting them hard, so your clothing will go to good use."
