PARC volunteers at St. Mary's Food Bank

Saturday August 31st the Phoenix Arcadia Rotary Club was one of many organizations volunteering at the St. Mary's Food Bank warehouse and distribution center to help those in need by packing food boxes with canned food goods. All together over 20,000 cans were boxed to fill 24 pallets of food for the hungry. Another successful service project helping the fight against hunger!

Mr. Currens thanked Rotarians and Gift of Life-AZ Board Members for their support with the golf tournament and show. He noted that the Golf Tournament and All-Star Comedy and Variety Show is reaching sell out capacity, and that they will need more Rotarian help at the next Dry Heat that will be held July 29 - 31, 2010 at The Talking Stick Resort in Scottsdale. Thanks to Rotarian Pat, Rotarian Dave, Rotarian John, Rotarian Jim and Rotarian Mike and the "Family of Rotary" guests for their hard work at St. Mary's Food Bank! Ambassadorial Scholar Speaks
StoryThumbnail
Erin Mills was the 2007-2008 ambassadorial scholar for district 5510 and studied International Relations at the Universidad de la Republica in Montevideo, Uruguay. One of the first questions I am often asked when I meet someone new here is, "why Uruguay"? Which then provokes me to ask, "why not"? I think the issue here is that we can forget how blessed we are to be born in a country of opportunity and sometimes it is difficult for others to understand why we would leave to come to their tiny corner of the world.

Thank You to Our Paul Harris Fellows
StoryThumbnail
We are proud of our Paul Harris Fellows of Phoenix Arcadia Rotary. Some of whom had their picture taken with our District Govenor. The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty. The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.

Our Ambassadorial Scholar is Now in Prague
Dear Rotarians, I'm just checking in! I not only made it to Prague safe and sound, I also moved into an apartment, arranged for a Czech phone number and registered with the immigration police. Most importantly, I met up with Matt Terrell, an Ambassadorial Scholar from Savannah, GA, and we found a nice 2 bedroom apartment in the heart of the city. The historic district and the university are only blocks away!
