Marion Rotary extends its congratulations to Tom Barnes, who was recognized as a 2026 Corridor Business Hall of Fame Laureate by Junior Achievement of Eastern Iowa during ceremonies held September 24th at the DoubleTree by Hilton in Cedar Rapids. Tom was one of three laureates honored this year for their leadership, business success, integrity, community commitment, and lasting impact on Eastern Iowa.

Tom, founder and CEO of Barnes Manufacturing Services, was recognized for building a company that has grown from a small manufacturing operation into a nationally recognized precision manufacturing business serving customers throughout the United States. Junior Achievement highlighted Tom's entrepreneurial spirit, commitment to quality, and investment in people as key factors in his selection for this prestigious honor.

While business success is certainly part of the story, what makes the Junior Achievement Business Hall of Fame unique is its emphasis on leadership that extends beyond the workplace. According to Junior Achievement, laureates are selected not only for their business accomplishments but also for their impact on their communities, their integrity, and their ability to serve as role models for the next generation of leaders. The Hall of Fame recognizes individuals whose leadership has contributed to the economic growth and well-being of Eastern Iowa communities.

Tom joins an impressive group of Eastern Iowa business leaders who have previously received this distinction. This year's Corridor Business Hall of Fame also honored Robin Therme of CIVCO Medical Solutions and Nick AbouAssaly of Simmons Perrine PLC and the City of Marion, while entrepreneur Cale Henderson was recognized as the Entrepreneur Honoree.

The mission of Junior Achievement is to prepare young people for success through programs focused on financial literacy, work readiness, and entrepreneurship. Proceeds from the Corridor Business Hall of Fame support those efforts, helping equip students with skills that will benefit them throughout their careers and lives.

Those who know Tom through Rotary recognize many of the same qualities highlighted by Junior Achievement: leadership, integrity, commitment to excellence, and a dedication to strengthening our community. Through both his professional accomplishments and his service to others, Tom exemplifies Rotary's motto of "Service Above Self." We are proud to call Tom a fellow Rotarian and celebrate this well-deserved recognition.

Congratulations, Tom, on being named a 2026 Junior Achievement Corridor Business Hall of Fame Laureate. Thank you for living Rotary's ideal of Service Above Self and for the positive impact you continue to make throughout our community. 🎉
